with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair
(Glad to hear that you’re doing better!!)
Hazel really should have anticipated this subject rolling back around; the Ascendants may be a peaceful group for most occasions, but a lot of its members joined straight from the shadows of the woods, where they had to survive on their own. Fighting, hunting, basic survival things that Hazel barely managed to scrape by. During the month on her own, her days had consisted of perfecting the fine art known as stealing. She wasn’t amazing, but she managed well enough to get by for a few weeks. Arion had found her about a week into the whole ordeal, so defending herself became less of a problem.
Sometimes it was hard to remember that everyone came from different backgrounds, different histories. What wasn’t hard to forget was what happened last time Hazel clashed with members’ affinity for combat, which explained her nerves at approaching this certain scene. She kept her eyes on Oni, trying not to look at Bastille for the fear of actively letting the floodgates open between their bond and spill a whole mess of paranoia and bad memories into his mind.
“Hey, take it easy, Oni. Thea’s been doing this a lot longer than you. A break might be a good idea,” She suggested. Hearing the young kit’s words had worry lacing her tone, and had the earth produce a piece of variscite embedded in bedrock. Oni was young and smaller than Thea — if he was already seeing double, he could be well on his way to a concussion.
