with grace in your heart and flowers in your hair
Fireflies were a delightful concept to Hazel — just little bugs that blinked like little sun spots in the midst of the dark. They lit up the night, splashed like freckles across navy skies. Hazel had never been able to capture their likeness in her art attempts, and it was an endless frustration. Never mind that they only appeared on some nights and not on others.
When Thea’s excited antics caught her attention, Hazel paused, considering. The girl looked happy — perhaps she should leave it alone; let Thea enjoy herself.
She wasn’t sure what changed her mind in the next few seconds, but she ended up changing her course to wander near the other girl. “Be careful,” She warned, smile on her features as she noticed the bug trapped under Thea’s paws. “They’re little bugs. They can be squished easily.”
