They had just met the first day of camp, and yet the other kid had already latched onto him, acting as if they had been good buddies for forever. It annoyed him to no end, and yet he also sort of liked it. He had a tendency to catch the attention of unfriendly older kids, so to have someone take a liking to him so quickly felt really nice. Plus it put him at ease to know he wouldn't be sitting alone when eating or for partner activities.
The boy lifts his head as Bast, the team's leader comes over, a grin breaking out on his face. He quickly nods to the older male, throwing a fist up into the air. "Yeah! We'll win this time for sure!" he says, though it isn't quite as loud as he would have liked. Rather it was spoken in a slightly louder tone than usual. He didn't want to attract too much attention, but he did want to show his enthusiasm.
He turns at the next voice, his child-like wonder disappearing at Carolina's words. She was one of the kids he had taken a quick disliking to. The black-haired boy scrunched up his nose as if he had just smelled something rancid, shaking his head at her words. "Nuh-uh! Blue Team is gonna win for sure," he protests, grabbing fistfuls of his life jacket.
