Lucifer had heard the commotions near the tunnels from where he'd been camofaluged in an area beside the various entrances, choosing to be a premptive bodyguard for each entrance and exit varying each day - so it was that his eyes had slitted open to spot what could only be the silhouettes of humans on the periphery and was briefly thankful his dark hide hid him well against the dark shadows.

so while they were distant, he'd taken the time to find help - help to find out just what they were up to and what course of action should be taken.
