His attention temporarily moved over to the cattle. Montgomery's stomach growled at the sight, but he held himself back. A herd of cows for the taking would be monumental for the Congregants of Genesis, especially since many were beginning to grow thin. Instead, maybe this is where the stranger could prove useful. Would they be willing to trade their services or some cows for shelter? or was companionship the least of Cain's worries?
Montgomery sighed. His gaze redirected back to the stranger, only to find them taking his advice. At least they had somewhere cozy to rest in this weather. The archon smiled to himself. Clearly pleased with someone listening to his words of wisdom and a potential advantage on the board, the older dog was satisfied enough to continue this interaction. The herbs could wait. "See," he confidentially said. "Much better against the wind."
Introductions appeared to have escaped him. Where were his manners? "I don't expect you to have seen me," the canine remarked. Some may know his name though. He was not betting on Cain knowing though. "My name is Montgomery, archon of the Congregants of Genesis. It is a pleasure to meet you, Cain." His head dipped politely in greeting.
Raising his head back up to face the other, his grin extended further. "No, no. Not at all." Montgomery turned to the side to show off the bag wrapped around him. "More like I am seeking something." The bag was clearly full with other herbs, but, based off the dampening of his delighted expression, something was missing. "I am looking for some marigold, but I have not seen any." The flower was about to go out of season, especially with the first frost coming. If he did not stock up now, he was surely going to have to pull some strings or pray to Neandryne that his congregants held over until spring.
Thus, strings were going to be pulled. "Do you know of the whereabouts of any? or have any?" he curiously inquired. "Perhaps I can offer you some shelter for you and your cattle in return."
