The Harvest. Something he admittedly hadn't heard of until recently. He wasn't one for parties and the like, though the idea of games and perhaps a bit of gambling always felt tempting. He would have to feel things out for himself, it seemed.
His ears twitched at the mention of a buffalo sighting in the meadows. Though he would not join the hunters on their mission, he saw the value of bringing a male and female back alive if they could. Having the steady supply for meat and bone would not be something to complain about. He hoped, too, that they would quickly progress to the construction of pens in their territory — they would need something sturdy to keep the buffalo along with cattle and other bovine beasts in their safe, rightful place.
There was a multitude of work to prepare for the Harvest, and he would be no stranger to the labor. Olalla had mentioned the work-in-progress construction of the aviary, which Blackjack had been tasked with overseeing. The building process first began quite a while ago, and since then it had neared the end of its creation, thankfully. "We've made excellent progress with the aviary," he announced. "The structure is up, just needs its residents." Some touching up wouldn't hurt anyone, though, so he figured he could enlist one or two Pittians to tweak and clean up the construction to prepare it for the arrival of the birds, which the rest would hunt down.
He perked up a bit at the mention of bringing clean water to the jungle town. Were they ready for it? "Since the aviary is almost set, we could make some progress towards an aqueduct system. At least map it out for now," the feline added. "Might need a few more hands for it — could wait 'til after the Harvest preparations are done." The aviary didn't take much manpower, but a full-blown functioning water delivery system would take quite a bit more effort to piece together and maintain, and it would be an operation best done when there were more available for the task. With many members receiving some sort of assignment pertaining to the Hunt and Harvest, it was likely not something that could be done immediately.
