Spring was on the horizon. Somewhere. A hope. The scattered snow would melt. The chilly sting in the air would go away. Prey would return. Her herbs could grow again outside of the temple's sanctuary. Maybe the jungle would see some healing. New growth.
Hopefully.
The petite deer-fox felt confident it would be soon enough. Within the next moon perhaps. And the splat of a raindrop on her nose made her lift her head. Hazel hues blinking in surprise. The water was cold. Just as chilled as the air. But not frozen enough to be snow. Or ice. A sign of the weather warming... If just barely.
Her wings shuffled at her sides as she squinted and scanned the sky through the canopy. A canvas of gray clouds. Aine twitched her nose as another droplet fell, scruntching her face and wincing at the chill. But she didn't rush to find any shelter just yet. Watching the sky as the rain begin to fall in full force. Unable to stop the small smile on her face. While she found snow entertaining for a short time... The childlike wonder it brought... She needed the rain.
