[div style="margin: 0 auto; width: 70%; text-align: justify;"]If someone had told Victor that he would even obtain a power, he would have simply laughed at the idea and walked off. Back home, powers were seldom and typically looked down upon. Any one found to have a power would, essentially, leave the community, no longer really having a place. Powers were usually considered to be a genetic defect that generally traveled down family lines. In Victor's lineage, the only known Nikiforov to have a power had been his great grandmother. The power had not surfaced until she was rather old, but she managed to almost burn down a neighboring forest. She had died from old age a few years later and his family believed that power died with her. Despite this, the power had not died, but simply lie dormant, ever changing and evolving. Fortunately, he did not have to burn down a forest in order to learn of his 'defect'. Victor held no ill will towards powers, especially here. Here, they appeared to be luxury.
He made his way across the underwater railroad, returning from a small excursion outside of the territory. The ripples in the water he left in his wake began to freeze over, but were quickly melted away due to the warm waters. Unaware of this occurring, he pressed forward, nearing the shore. The fur along his back suddenly became covered in a light sheet of frost and a sudden chill came over him. He shivered, wondering if the weather had suddenly changed or if he had caught a cold. Only a few paces away from the main island, he was suddenly unable to lift one of his back legs. Jerking around in surprise, he saw no one there. Blue eyes drew down, seeing the water around his paw having froze, holding his leg in place. This was not normal. Giving a violent jerk of his leg, the ice broke and he freed his leg. Puzzled, he turned back around to proceed forward, but this time, a front leg was frozen in place. "What the hell," he whispered under his breath, suddenly starting to notice the frost on his fur. Growing a bit frightful, he broke the ice and quickly raced to the beach, leaving the water before something else happened.
The frost around his shoulders began to build up and harden whereas everything else seemed the stay the same. Ice kept building and building until he had two rod-like shapes sticking out of the side of his body. Still, the ice kept shifting as if it was trying to take the shape of something. Both horrified and confused, Victor quickly turned, taking the large rod between he teeth and breaking the ice in half. As if triggering a chain reaction, the frost suddenly melted away, leaving him be for the time being. It appeared he had gained the elemental power of water, the opposite of what his ancestor had possessed. "Son of a bitch."
