To be alone in the world was something Kaiser could have never imagined. He had never even thought about how to care for himself, how to plan for his future. The only thing that mattered was Maia's future, the little girl born from his parents five months after him. Shielding her from his father's wrath was his first priority, but both Mama and Papa had passed only a month after Maia was born. They weren't violent deaths, but they came so suddenly. A sickness had taken hold of Papa first, and within a week, he was gone. Days later, Mama followed, but Kaiser had already learned to not depend on his mother long ago. The one person he did look up to had left a few weeks after their parents' death, and Kaiser knew that his brother wasn't coming back. Friedrich dreamed of traveling the world one day, and left to fight for someone, some distant group that he couldn't remember the name of. Kaiser realized he couldn't stay where he was anymore, Maia needed to grow up somewhere better. To get out of the cold was a dream, but if they got strong enough, maybe they could make it out alive.
Only they never would. The same sickness that took their parents came for Maia, and her frail body succumbed to it only hours after she first started showing symptoms. Maia was the last person Kaiser had, losing her meant losing everything. He didn't have anywhere else to go, and now, he had nothing left to live for. It wasn't fair how everyone else had died and he was still here, but the sickness didn't come for him. The boy had never felt so hopeless in his life, out in the bitter cold. Mama and Papa had told stories of a civilization, a group who lived here in this environment. Kaiser had planned for both him and Maia to try to find them, but without Maia, he only walked around the forest aimlessly. He couldn't walk forever, he would fall to the cold and lack of energy eventually. Only then, could he see Maia again.
Lost in his own thoughts, he didn't even notice stepping over a wire, until wind chimes sounded all around him. Every inch of his body feared for his life, wanting to run away, but the kitten's little legs couldn't carry him any further. Beings further in the forest would be alerted of his presence, and his fate was for them to decide. Exhausted, the boy curled up by a tree, waiting for whoever was to come to him.
//ooc: I hope I did this right!! Haven't roleplayed since 2019 so it's been a while
