Apparently there were traps littered out in the wet lands that Tanglewood resided, both natural and man-made. Pits of spikes concealed by leaves, bear traps ready to sink their teeth into unsuspecting legs, quicksand that swallowed people whole. Also, there were gators.
As if the wild-life and murky pools of water weren't enough to make those who came across the territory turn tail and leave.
So, with no knowledge of where and what to watch out for, she confined herself in the village inside the swamp. It was a nice place, at least, cozy in the way it was presented. She could see that they prided themselves on their home and keeping it nice-looking.
Right now, with nothing else to do but wander around and familiarize herself, Adelaide set out to explore the town. It wasn't an awfully big place, at least not that she figured, but maybe there were some fun things to entertain herself with. Maybe there was a library around here that she could raid.
But she had a terrible habit of not watching where she was going. Well, not usually, but now she did, in a new place like this. It was that, combined with her new long legs and the lack of experience with them, that led her to trip and fall over onto her face when her paw caught on something.
The maned wolf landed in a heap. It definitely wasn't pleasant, considering she had fallen at least ten times today, and the fact that the wounds on her hindquarters were still healing. Not cool.
She looks over to see what she's tripped on and there, not looking very pleased about what had just happened, was a snake, scales black and red. She could only assume this was another member, a resident of Tanglewood. She smiles cheerfully, if not a little sheepish.
"Hi there! Uh, sorry about that. New legs." she says, lifting a back paw and wiggling it as emphasis.
