EVERYTHING GOES AWAY — p, initiation

// this thread will be switched to open and bumped once mynthe and goldie return from the island! + retro to volcano eruption

The night was quiet with barely any noise to be heard besides the crashing of waves up against the shoreline. She lived not too far away from Barracuda Bay, just along the line of the jungle that separated the sand from the dirt. She had a treehouse, nothing great as it was a bit small but tended to her needs well enough. This night however she was out and about, hunger rumbling in her stomach and food on the mind. Her frame was beginning to move away from the thin wreck it was when she had first joined the Typhoon, now more bulky and less revealing. Her strength had begun to come back to her, no longer as weak as she was before. Her skin no longer clung to her frame and her fur had finally become sleek once more, looking as healthy as she possibly could. Her sleek form raced through the night, claws unsheathing as she stuck them into the sides of a tree and began to propel herself upwards while using most her strength to get to the top. Her paws landed on a branch, the thylacine moving to lie down as she looked down at the jungle floor. She was planning to ambush a piece of prey, any piece that would manage to be foolish enough to come under her despite her scent lingering in the area.

Mynthe waited not too long, only a few moments before a bird had flocked it's way under her branch, beak pecking at the ground in a desperate find for seeds. Usually the nocturnal girl didn't find any birds during the night so this had been more a surprise to her, though it didn't distract her like the hungry she felt, did. Slowly she began to move up from her laying position on the branch to a crouching one, tail lashing behind her as she glared down at the bird. It was comfortable and suspected nothing, a mistake made that allowed her to ambush with ease. She pushed her powerful legs off the branch and landed down on the ground beneath with a thud, paws slamming onto the birds wings as it struggled beneath her weight. Finally, she ended it with her jaws lunging into the back of it's neck. Mynthe wasted no time in beginning to salvage the prey, taking down as much as she could until she was full. Feathers were of no problem to her, as she would eat past them when she was in dire need of food. With her prey ripped to the brim, the marsupial licked her jaws to clean off any stains, turning away from the left over carcass and beginning to make her way towards the beach.

Tonight was her initiation ceremony, one she had much about that gave nightmares and made you relive your worst fears. She didn't exactly believe that for a second, but still she needed to complete this ceremony to be a full member. Right now, she wasn't as tied to the Typhoon as she could be, though this ceremony didn't exactly seem to be binding and she would be able to leave at anytime she so desired to, something she was still contemplating on doing. Her paws shifted as she made her way to the docks, eyes landing on the island in the near distance. Foolishly she had agreed to have her ceremony with Goldenluxury, someone who she was still weary about but slowly warming up to. To say the least, the thylacine was also curious about the Captain and couldn't help wanting to know more about her with the little time the nearly erupted volcano seemed to provide them.

The girl shifted on the wood as she looked out to the island thoughtfully, tail curling to her side while she waited.

I HEARD, I HEARD ACROSS A MOONLIT SEA
THE OLD VOICE WARNING ME
BEWARE, BEWARE THE DAUGHTER OF THE SEA
BEWARE, BEWARE OF ME.
When she had offered to complete the female's entrance ritual with her, she'd saw it as a perfect opportunity. Her decision was both deeply calculative and quite...impulsive. There were, of course, benefits, in her eyes. She had been wishing to try it for a while. Just because she was born into the island does not mean she should forfeit herself from this part of their culture. It is such an important ritual, after all, to them, and she wants to be able to share that experience with her crewmates. However, she'd not truly thought about how if she happened to see the wrong things, or if the female happened to not be who she claimed, then this could end up a very poor situation. But, ever the optimist, the bengal stuck to her word. She'd prepared herself for this, knowing the journey would likely take quite a bit of energy - more than she even spent just walking around the island. She'd made sure to get a good rest and restock on her herbs to help the pain go away. She just wants to focus on the task at hand for now.

It does occur to her that the entrance ritual, as far as she is aware (which to be honest, she doesn't have too much knowledge, with her memories, or lack thereof), has not been done by two folks at the same time before. However, there wasn't any rule stating that it couldn't be done as a duo, trio, or even more. Nothing said it had to be done alone and she thought, hey, maybe it'd be easier to do with another. If nothing else, she does want to gain this female's trust. There is so much she wants to talk about. There is so much she wants to help with. She doesn't know this exact female's situation with the Pitt, how she feels about her place, or how she sees the world in general, but she held the intent on figuring it out. At least, figuring out one of those things. She so desperately wants to help her, being a slave herself, in the past. There is a connection between the two, even if it is not nearly the same. It is similar. It is enough to make the captain feel so compelled, so desperate to focus on her.

If she was to be frank with herself, the thyclaine is often on her mind...amongst other things. However, she takes it more so as her desire to help, her concern, than anything else. There's no reason to suspect it be anything else. It is almost exciting, actually. She has not wanted so badly to befriend someone for as long as she can remember (which, again, to her credit, is not very long). Well, besides maybe her papa. But, that was different.

So, as the day passes on, the female decides she ought to start making her way out, seeing how the female is doing. Maybe she was unwell, or simply wanted to delay it. It was good to make sure. Besides, they probably would like to start soon enough. Night would fall upon them sooner than later, after all. Before she leaves, she feeds Lynn and gives him a few pats on his head, letting him rest within the submarine. She wouldn't be gone for more than a night, so he would be perfectly fine on his own, she assumes. After this, she readjusts the walking sticks attached to her body and moves out, walking quietly on the beach. She let her own gaze wander to the salty blue waters herself for a little while, only turning her attention once she senses the female's presence in the distance. She moves towards her in a casual, slightly slow pace, ears perked.

"Hiya," she offers in a light tone as she gets closer, nodding. She looks back out to the sea, eyes drifting towards the sky. She didn't look behind her. She didn't want to think about the volcano right now. "Ya ready for the ritual?"

Patience was something Mynthe somewhat lacked, having that sort of survival instinct that told her to attack as quick as possible so she wouldn't leave any open chances for her target to escape. This same instinct forced her to never really sit down, always on her feet whenever possible. Moments passed and she had begun to pace in the place she stood, front paws kicking up sand boredly with her eyes trained to them. Not much more waiting was to be had when she heard the footsteps of Goldenluxury, head turning sharply to look towards the Captain. Relief was to be felt as she finally got the cure for her short-lived boredom, the thylacine stopping her pacing and beginning to meet halfway with the Captain. Though, she didn't get too close and seemed to hold some distance between them. Mynthe looked over her walking sticks briefly, a thought of why Goldenluxury would attempt the initiation in such a state, crippled and broken. But past that there seemed to be something more to Goldenluxury, determination and bravery which made her think on whether the Captain was truly determined or just idiotic. However, Mynthe had her doubts on the Captain being idiotic.

She continued to study the Captain for a few more moments, finally opening her jaws to release the words. "Somewhat." She grumbled, tone neutral as she didn't give anything away. Her eyes peered over to the distant island not too far, Haven Island as they called it. "Where we get... Jungle Juice?" The words left as she kept her eyes on the island. Mynthe had never heard of such a term, "Jungle Juice", and to her it sounded like a game made up by a child rather than an actual thing used in a ritual. Later, she would regret her thoughts about Jungle Juice but right now she had her doubts that it actually worked. Besides if it did, who wasn't to say she would see something she would want? She had heard that it wasn't always bad. Those thoughts seemed to ease her mind a little, and so did the presence of Goldenluxury though she wouldn't admit that out loud even if her life depended on it. Briefly, her eyes landed back on the Captain, the thylacine opening her maw as to say something before getting cut off by an NPC arriving with the drinks of Jungle Juice.

The NPC had promptly put the two mugs down in the sand, a nod of their head before bounding off. She could feel a sense of anger rise in her stomach as she took a few steps back when the NPC came close, only relaxing when they left. She was still having trouble trusting others in the Typhoon but she would warm up eventually with time. Cautiously, Mynthe took a few steps forwards towards the mug where she looked into the oddly colored drink, jaws departed to take in it's scent to make sure there wasn't any poison. Even without the scents of poison lingering in the drink, she was still cautious and skeptical, head turning to look at Goldenluxury to see if she had drunk her already. That fearful feeling took over Mynthe like a plague, the marsupial taking s few steps away from the drink and huffing. No, she had to do this. Huffing, she closed her eyes tight before taking a few steps back towards the drink and lapping it up as quick as she could. Disgust was the first emotion that came over her, then fear. To her the drink tasted like garbage, the woman running her tongue around her mouth as she tried to get out the horrid taste that lingered from the drink. A frustrated sigh left her maw as she came to terms with the fact that she wouldn't be able to get out this taste no matter how hard she tried.

She accepted defeat, a shiver running up her body as the aftertaste was no better. Behind her she had barely noticed that the sun was almost completely gone, very little light lingering to light their path. "Drink taste shit." She grumbled her words to her companion, huffing and turning away to see that the sun was nearly gone. It was time. She looked towards the dock where a boat seemed to be heading back, the one for Haven Island so it seemed. The fear that she felt also angered her, it upset her because she didn't want to feel fear. She was stronger than that and fear should be an emotion not at all relevant to her. Promptly she cleared her throat and began to stride forward at a slow pace for Goldenluxury to match, beckoning the Captain with her finned tail. Her paws left the softness of the sand and made contact with the wood, Mynthe trying to suppress another influx of fear. She climbed into the boat and turned to look at Goldenluxury to see if she would need any help.

I HEARD, I HEARD ACROSS A MOONLIT SEA
THE OLD VOICE WARNING ME
BEWARE, BEWARE THE DAUGHTER OF THE SEA
BEWARE, BEWARE OF ME.
//9 billion years late here we go

The female would open her mouth to respond to Mynthe, however was interrupted by the crewmate bringing the juice. Usually members would go to the Capricorn Tavern for the drinks, so she finds it a little funny to have them delivered. She'd never liked special treatment before. Nonetheless, the feline wouldn't bother saying anything about it and went to drink it herself. Her nose twitched at the strange taste, blinking once. Actually doing this herself was odd in itself, she believes, but she ought to do it, and there was certainly no backing out now. The captain laughed at Mythne's initial reaction to the drinks. "Is' not 'bout tastin' good," the female responded in a light-hearted manner. The ritual was an important part of their culture and what they stood for and she, personally, couldn't let herself complain over it, when she knows what it was all for in the end. The bengal was honestly getting to be a little more nervous as time grew closer. The sights received from the jungle juice were not often good. There were a few worst case scenarios she could imagine happening. There was really only one best case scenario.

She pushed herself onto the boat, legs shaking slightly as she performs the task. It hurt bad, but she was more than capable of getting through it. If her back healed, even with everything she'd put herself through, then eventually her legs will too. The female would look out to the sea, Haven Island clear in the distance. "I love the ocean. Always have." She would comment half as a small ramble, half to make small talk. Silence doesn't necessarily bother her being an introvert, even if it's not so obvious at times. Spending time with her crewmates does wear her out, but she finds it better to talk than to remain silent like a hermit. If she's the captain, she might as well get on nice terms with all of her crewmates. But, even as just a way to fill the quiet air, it is a genuine statement. She loves everything about the ocean. That part of Goldenluxury Roux never went away. Like the island, the ocean is just her home, and she adores it. "I'd love t' jus' be a fish. Is' a whole different world." She almost says this in a dreamy manner. The Typhoon is her life and she would never give that up, but she can't help but long for a life in the sea at times. She wished for both, really. But, you can't get everything you want.

As they get closer to the island, she directs her attention to it. "Well, all we've gotta do is stay the night. 'm sure it'll be over before we know it." It's a statement she gives to hopefully assure the female, though she isn't certain as to what Mynthe may be feeling right now. Most members were skeptical before trying out the challenge, and she can understand the reasoning behind that. However, she's heard enough to know that the drink's effects were likely true. She may not remember the many experiences she would've had with new members the morning after their entrance ritual, but she does have enough sense to realize that it likely wasn't some made up fairytale that the jungle juice does some weird shit.
