the fallen leaves crunched under arthur's paws as he trotted uphill, his tail curled over his back and whiskers twitching excitedly. his ears perked forward at the soft chirping and calls of crows ahead before turning to look over his shoulder. honey colored eyes softened as they rested on lewis, a small smile curled at his maw. he stopped for a moment to let him catch up, his mechanical leg whirring idly. they were off the beaten path by a few miles now, yet he still felt oddly relaxed around his old friend. he missed lewis for a long time, he couldn't imagine being without him again.
"are... are you ready?" arthur's voice was soft, but the chilled air was still and carried his voice. he knew lewis' answer already, but it had been quite some time since the last time they ventured somewhere like this. their equipment was outdated compared to what had since come out, so with a bit of tinkering on the panel of his leg arthur had been able to add some features to detect paranormal activity.
flipping over the panel would reveal a screen that scanned about thirty meters around them, and several colored dots could show up marking special kinds of activity. blue for poltergeist. red for demonic energy. yellow for anomalies; mainly wandering spirits. then grey for elemental spirits that included the fae or tricksters. it was fun to work on, and the tabby felt much more prepared to investigate and not as reluctant as he once was.
"y'know, th-this, uhm, house was suh...supposed to be a c-castle one day! b-but the owners... uhm, didn't quite make it." despite his stammering arthur's voice remained low in a 'spooky' tone, his head low and his smile turning to a mockingly sinister one. "b-but it's just a m... myth." he ended with a short flick of his tail and a wink.
