Jericho makes his home in one of the many stores amid the floating town, his just further past the town square where the main fountain lies. Docked outside is the little boat in which he hosts his gardening store, bobbing and swaying on the waves. When closed he folds the shelves up and tucks away the merchandise, usually calling over one of his larger clanmates to flip over the 'open' sign that hangs above the doorway. His house itself is actually no house at all, but rather a quaint abandoned bookshop. Its exterior is painted an olive green, the front made up of large glass window panes and faded golden letters. The store is made up of only one room, long and narrow and relatively tiny, but it's also homey and cozy in the way that Jericho finds to be perfect — besides, the Helion himself hardly takes up much space. Wooden shelves line the walls and take up much of the open space, filled with books shoved into every nook and cranny. They pile all the way to the ceiling and often sit in stacks that threaten to overtake the exposed floorboards and old shag rugs. The lighting is dim (but Jericho tends to leave them off anyways until visitors remind him that it's rather dark) and comes from an array of mismatched lamps that sit on side tables placed by each of the many cushioned chairs scattered haphazardly throughout the novel-lined corridors.
Towards the back is a small spiral staircase shoved into the corner, its steps home to messy heaps of books. Above is a loft filled with comfy chairs and coffee tables for reading, or rather where Jericho tends to sleep and where he will typically invite his guests. Natural light streams in through giant glass panels that reach from the loft’s floor to where the gently sloping roof meets in the ceiling’s center, facing east towards the sunrise and the ocean just past the other floating houses. The tabby himself cannot read very well, given his blindness (there are workarounds using his extended senses, but they always give him headaches), yet merely being surrounded by books feels strangely comforting. The tomcat finds himself curled up at the shops’s front on one of the ledges at the window, his ginger fur bathed in the sun’s golden rays. Jericho relishes in their warmth as they wash over him, just peeking out from the mountains as the evening sky begins its fall behind the horizon. He exhales lightly, blind honey eyes flickering towards the boardwalk before him as he moves to rest his head on his paws. The house sways gently beneath him with the waves as they move towards the shore, their soft crashing not yet out of ear as it joins the murmur of his clanmates’ voices around him. The very ground rocks back and forth beneath him like a hammock and Jericho lets it, thinking that this place is truly starting to feel like home.
/this is rushed/mobile so i might completely redo it later but welcome to jeri's home thread! he lives in a quaint old bookshop. feel free to post here to visit him or if you want a thread or just to plot/chat!!
