    FATED, FAITHFUL, FATAL...
    FATED, FAITHFUL, FATAL...
    It happened again, hasn't it?
The thought was simple, yet it held more weight than the vampire was expecting, his white porcelain mask snug against his face as he stood atop a stone portcullis, looking down from where he was posed, heterochromatic eyes scanning the area around The Estate he had called his home. At least... it was the closest he could call to a home. Only place he felt welcomed in, a band of mercenaries, correction, Knights, with a higher population of creatures such as himself than many of the other bands that he had encountered.

After everything I had done, I can see why I'm back.

His thoughts were eating him alive, memories of battles from wars long forgotten, from lands he wasn't even sure existed anymore, with people who had existed at one point, unless they had never existed at all here. The plight Project was faced with, it was something he bore. His memories hammered against his mind, begging to be let in at full force, yet he held them at bay, knowing that this life, this cycle, it was different than the last, and the one before that, going on for as long as he could remember.

At least here, I'm no outsider. Here there is money to be made. There is a purpose.

Who knew how many wars, raids, conflicts he had survived. Project certainly lost count, but it mattered little. These groups, these people, they were different than everyone he had known, and he had only heard rumblings, rumors, of the person who lead these merry misfits, these professional soldiers. Someone by the name of Rosencrantz. The wolf knew he must look into them later, but that was to happen in due time.

    All in due time.

His plans, the reason the creature was back in this realm of existence, they were all in motion. Yet, despite being the piece in motion, he knew nothing of his purpose, having faith that this too, as with all else, would be revealed in due time.

I'M GOING TO MAKE MY VOICE, YOU'LL NEVER GET MY CHOICE TO BREATHE !
The loneliness of the portcullis was interrupted by the presence of another, a wolf-like creature further down the way from him. Sucking in a breath and the scents acquitted with it, nose wrinkling slightly as the mutated blynx cast his green orbs over the dark canine. He was newer, stranger than most who found their way to this solitary place, but there was so much ... time in the way he moved. An old soul, someone who had gone through hell and had come back swinging. That, or Einar was losing his ability to judge others.

Breath rushing from the grizzled knight's lungs as he approached Project with a slow gait, steps sure if not slow. He knew this wall too well, he often came here to hide from his thoughts and inner demons. Coming to stand near the masked man, "You here for guard duty?" he asked the other, grateful for the warmth that his pelt gave him in the chill breeze from the mountains. This land that they called home was as welcoming as she was brutal, testing the strength of many and sending many others back to their mothers in caskets. Luckily, it seemed that the weather was fair today, warmer than the days before it. The hope of good weather is what carried the old knight now, a hope for a good summer, a good fall. Let them last longer than the winter that gripped this land, let the crops grow well and the children into young men and women. Perhaps his own thoughts were ranging, when left so alone in the expanse of the land.

Turning his head to look in the direction that Project was, silence settling between them like an old friend. He didn't need to speak, there was usually no need. "It's quiet today, thankfully. I wonder when the next Expedition force will return?" he murmured, half to himself, half to brook a conversation with the man he had yet to meet properly, that he had heard little about, only that he had perverse eating habits, not unlike the Lords and Ladies they served.

    FATED, FAITHFUL, FATAL...
Someone spoke? Red and blue eyes flicked over to the owner of the words, the harsh stare softening a touch as he realized it was one of the other knights speaking to him. "Ah, yep. Posted out here to keep an eye on the scene, acclimate myself to the area." Project said with a mildly embarrassed clearing of his throat, blinking the feline into focus as he approached. He didn't sense the other as he walked over, not until he spoke to him. Was his age finally catching up with him? Did his hearing and his eyes fail him today? Or was he so deep in thought that the other knight had snuck up on him?

Quiet? Of course, someone had to mention how quiet it was. "Young man, the quiet is not always a good thing. It also is not intrinsically evil. It simply is. However, when it is silent, when not even the pray animals make noise, that is evil. Dangerous. Whatever you'll call it." The ancient vampire replied, a half-smile twisting at the good side of his face. "Project. What's your name, son?"
