CAUSTIC
Upon being informed of the caves, Caustic sought to move into them as fast as possible. They were dark and controlled, easier to get into then the silly tree houses. Caustic wasn't a fan of them, clambering up the stairs with his bad paw hurt his shoulder. The only advantage they had was the overlook he was given of the clan members. Easy area to study from. Maybe he would continue watching them from the tree houses, but Caustic felt much more at home in the caves. The presence of darkness and four walls with one opening made him feel more secure somehow. The Pitt needed to understand Caustic's need for privacy. He was simple- leave him alone to his work, especially when he requested so.
Caustic recalled the times Octane came to bother him, pushing papers off his counters until he would grab the smaller man by the hair and send his face into the tile. He huffed at the memory, the slightest of smirks on his maw. Caustic looked over at his test subject, mouth open, gas leaking out in a steady, slow cloud, adding to the collection of gas hovering at the floor. It leaked out of the room in a cloud, in a way, marking that Caustic lived there. Maybe that was a disadvantage to living here, the air didn't ventilate that well and Caustic's gas sat on the floor in a nice carpet. The monkey was fine, and due to the shortage of food, Caustic needed to keep it alive. Maybe it could be an assistant to him, but for now it was a test subject. He needed its hands, and Caustic had debated how to strike a deal with it.
Slavery wasn't allowed in the Pitt anymore, but it wasn't a slave if it was paid. Slavery... so crass. He already settled that this group wasn't very advanced and while there were some planets in the Outlands with active slavery, it was nigh impossible to get away from, even in the advanced society. The black market had its ways. The primate had taken to rest, and Caustic opened its cage with his teeth, replacing the food and water inside, then covering the cage with a blanket. A cough left him.
The room Caustic had set up in this outliet of the caves was bare bones for now. He slept on a mat of stuffing and blankets, and a mask made from wood sat on a flattened rock he currently used as a work area. He was considering making himself a new mask, but lack of resources and hands kept impeding his work. Oh well. Caustic's ears ticked to the side as he heard heavy pawsteps in the cave. He hummed, sorting through who it could be. If Olalla had came back for a second visit, Caustic would kill him this time. Who else? The bug couldn't fit down here and it was too heavy for any of the smaller creatures. Kydobi, perhaps, or that new lion. Caustic took in an inhale, his trachea catching on the air wrong, and the wolf keeling over in a coughing fit, wheezing between breathes, then coughing again.
