<the fiercest storm only hardened my resolve>
Tanteri was always in the sky. If he wasn't sleeping, he was in the air. His wings carried him about, taking him high to the clouds. There he would stay, only diving down if something caught his interest. Being so far up in the air made it hard to see those on the ground at times. He was a creature of the sky. It was where he belonged. He belonged with the air under his wings, carrying him wherever it willed him to go. Staying in one place for such a long time was an oddity. There was always something new to see, something new to find. This island was so odd, so strange, that he couldn't help but marvel at it's oddities. The pterosaur could never get over the grass that covered those who lived here. Fur, it was apparently called. A foreign word. There were lots of those here. Tanteri truly didn't care to learn them.
Currently he was grounded. On the ground. Not the punishment form of the word - although such a thing could be considered humorous, that is if the pterosaur even knew of the other connotation for the term. He was resting, having laid down. It was a break from being so high up where the sun could beat mercilessly down upon his spine. It was nice. Tanteri's head rested against a patch of grass, more than happy to sit in his contentment. He had considered trying to find a rocky spot to rest on. There the ground would be warm and give his body an equal amount of warmth. It probably would be comfortable, too. But a break from the sun was what he was searching for. His eyes were shut, taking in the relaxing moment. He was near the beach, still able to hear the waves against the shore. In truth he wasn't receiving any relief from the sun. He wasn't underneath any shade. Although being further away from the sun, away from where the heated air rose, was indeed a little more comfortable for the pterosaur.
His head snapped up when he swore he heard something. An Allosaurus? His head turned, looking about erratically. He was searching the bushes for one of the predators that he was familiar with. The pteranodon clicked his beak together, and look around as he could have sworn he heard the awful noise again. He raised the rest of his body, shaking out his wings. Tanteri didn't think that his breathing had grown that loud so fast, had it? It was so loud, and his head winced. Was this a form of the rare heat related headaches that he had experienced before? The pteranodon squinted. His eyes felt absolutely strained, and he was swiftly startled. How in depth and detailed his sight of far away had become: the leaves of the tree on the other side were far more easily viewable.
"What th-" Tanteri swiftly cut himself off. His loud voice was headache inducing to himself. It echoed and made the pterosaur flinch backwards. He could hear the bugs, the leaves rustling, the wind. It was swiftly growing painful. Tanteri cried out, the noise being cut off equally as swift. It was painful to make any noise, it was painful for his eyes to be looking at anything. It was so loud and so detailed that it made his head hurt. He barely had a moment to think that if there truly was a dangerous carnivore about, he was not going to be able to move away. The waves grew painfully loud as they crashed against the shore. It sounded like the smack of the tail of an ankylosaurus against stone. It was painful and loud. Tanteri's wings covered over his head. He shook furiously, curled into a ball near where the sand of the beach turned into grass. The noisy squawks and shrieks of pain barely lasted a few seconds: cut short from the equal pain that came from hearing his own voice.
