alright. there were some things on their mind that they wanted to bring up with sephiroth, the pharoah of the rosebloods, and they had let it go for long enough. this time it also included his son. bai shi had wanted to speak with him for the longest time, especially about some events that had been bothering them.

approaching the male's den to lay down a note, they would return to their den to wait, eye looking over the arena and the NPCs sparring. the note was simply a summons to their den, where they were far more relaxed, lounging in the desert sun, bathing in the arid heat as sunlight bounced off of their scales to reflect on the old building around them.

[div style="background-color: #292727; color: white; font-family: arial; font-size: 12px; letter-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; overflow: auto; width: 500px; height: 340px; padding: 10px;"]Sephiroth wasn’t exactly what one would call busy at the moment.  He had heard Bai Shi’s request for a private conversation of course at the meeting, but other than that his schedule was utterly boring and lifeless.  Some peace and quiet with one of his Vizier’s would more likely than not prove stimulating.

The male lion would take notice of the note outside of his quarters, scanning it with his sharpened eyes before taking off in the direction of the dragon’s quarters.  The Pharaoh would take brief notice of others milling about, sparring, doing their duties as he expected of them.  It was typical, expected, so the male offered no praise.  Simply the acknowledgement of his glowing eyes and the tiniest of nods was all he was willing to give.

Sephiroth would eventually make his way to Bai Shi’s den as expected, rolling his shoulders with a tiny groan as he cast his eyes, living with blue and green colors accented by their faint glow, upon the long serpentine body of the Vizier.  ”You wished to speak with me?”  The lion’s deep baritone rumble of a voice would velvet to something near gentleness as he addressed Bai Shi, something he didn’t exactly realize he was doing in the presence of Bai.

lifting their head and sliding their eyes open, bai shi focused on sephiroth after a second of their gaze wandering. and here they were, thinking they were all iron and brimstone and damnit, the softness in his tone. Stopping themselves from floating in the volume of his voice and presence, they blinked, second eyelid sliding over their eye.

"mmm yes. i wished to speak with you about kimu. it has come to my attention that others may try to take advantage of him and bully him, especially since he is your son. I would like to become his mentor when he is of appropriate age, so that I can teach him how to fight and defend himself, in case one of us adults aren't nearby to keep an eye on him, especially with war coming to our lands." there. first topic of discussion covered. second and third? did they even have the courage?

[div style="background-color: #292727; color: white; font-family: arial; font-size: 12px; letter-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; overflow: auto; width: 500px; height: 340px; padding: 10px;"]The subject of Sephiroth's son was a fairly new development in his life, one that the Pharaoh hadn't been so open about.  He felt something positive swell in his breast when he thought of the small child, but their interaction had been minimal so far and the older lion hadn't made a move to be closer.  He did feel protective of Kimu, in that way that family does for one another, but he found social interaction difficult enough and now he had a moral obligation to pick it up for the sake of bringing his son up properly.  'I must.  Kimu must have me with him.  He should be supported and safe and-'

The desperate feeling of protection nearly took him for a moment but it did not betray on his features.  Sephiroth's turquoise eyes flashed up to Bai Shi as they spoke to him of mentorship, of Kimu.  The reasoning was sound, Sephiroth had made many enemies and if he were in the place of his foes he would cruelly strike somebody close to him too.  And he trusted the serpent, the most out of all his Rosebloods in fact.  The male lion would nod deeply in place of his usual subtle movements, mane shifting in shiny layers of silver as he did so.  "Agreed.  You may mentor Kimu when the time comes, I am glad of the assistance."  His tone was genuine and appreciative, rare coming from Sephiroth.  It was pleasing to the ear with his silken tone, combined with his more relaxed posture it was a sight to behold.

sometimes he could just be way too much for them to handle, but at the same time they didnt think that they gave a flying monkey about it. smiling slightly themselves they took a deep breath, "second, i am going to be leaving for a while. everything ... everything has been a little hard to handle in regards to well, yeah. i'm not completely safe from ninazu's torture methods, and i dont want it to cost the rosebloods ahh lives if it can be helped."

at this time, there was no breath between words, their heart aching in their chest, breath coming quickly. "third, I admit that I carry emotions within me, and they are for you, my leige. as in, I would one day wish for a ... a romantic or more than merely friendly friendship, to take place between us. i thought to admit this now, so it doesnt seem as spurred on as valentines confessions are. I expect nothing in return, nothing more than what you would normally give me in response to my words. I will depart tonight." had it been any easier to speak, it would have been admitted months ago when they first recognized the hated feeling in their breast. and here they were, admitting their own weakness to the one man that might turn it against them, but they found that they didn't care anymore.

[div style="background-color: #292727; color: white; font-family: arial; font-size: 12px; letter-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; overflow: auto; width: 500px; height: 340px; padding: 10px;"]Sephiroth's brow furrowed slightly at the news of departure, though his expression quickly softened at the reasoning.  He supposed it was understandable.  The lion was about to speak, to respond, but Bai Shi continued on.  About emotions.  About confession.  About love aimed at him.

Sephiroth would pause for a decent amount of time, feeling his chest tighten and his eyes flicker up to met the dragon's.  He dare not speak, his mouth open slightly despite the fact.  He mentally searched for words, for Mother, but found himself alone in his mind.  Just when he needed guidance, he couldn't find any.  All he had was his own emotion and mind to work with.

The silvery lion's posture was very obviously relaxed in the presence of Bai Shi, and his voice was softer around them as well.  Sephiroth enjoyed the serpent's company more then possibly anybody in the group, and he felt strange warmth in his stomach whenever he settled his gaze on them and spoke to them gently.  The solo rescue mission he had embarked on to rescue the Vizier and his reaction to physical contact from them was enough proof of the lion's emotions towards Bai Shi.  Vocalizing them though....he wasn't sure how to.

In lieu of words, Sephiroth would take a few steps foreword and gently press his forehead against the golden scales of the dragon as his luminous eyes fluttered closed, his mannerisms made in a ginger fashion as if he wasn't sure of what he was doing, or if he was afraid of a negative reaction.  He exhaled deeply, calmly, centering.  As if to assure himself, keeping himself from being overwhelmed with emotion.  He couldn't stop that positive and misty feeling through his body however, warm and pleasant in his chest.

"...Where will you be going?"  Sephiroth's voice was a soft murmur, suddenly sounding much smaller then his usual confident and proud tone.  He remained in his vulnerable position, pressing his soft pale head against Bai's body.  He quite liked it, the closeness of the physical contact.  Would that be enough express his own love, his own mixed drink of emotions he tried to find words for but couldn't quite grasp?  He hoped, he desperately hoped, otherwise he wasn't sure how he could deal with any negative repercussions of wording his own emotions wrong, the intense guilt of unintentionally hurting one of the few he cared for.

a large break of breath was the meted answer to his movements, their chest squeezing in an agony that they didnt know they could feel. no response from the other, nothing different from the movement that should have spoken for him.

a shuddering exhale, their body trembling as they gave a silent admittance to themselves, of course, you fool. you expected far too much of him. not even gods.... leave it. it will give you more pain than it is worth. send your dove and leave it at that. just do your job, be his bodyguard, protect him. do it for him, for your god. that's all that you wanted right? servant to a god is all i want to be. all i need to be. i am to be wielded in battle, to be used as a shield. i am just a machine to be used. that's my core purpose as my position as the living descendant of the old gods. i am moulded into many shapes, old hell-fire brought to kindle and burn, tamed by the master's hand. as the general, my tale was written and discarded long ago. two of the old gods still live, and i am but a halfling. so be it, that I fall to a mortal god's charm and use. i do not mind, for i am still his trusted weapon. their thoughts ran wildly and painfully, encouraging self deprecation and hardening against their heart.

a tender rumble when he pressed his head to their body, a sadness in their eyes as they bowed their head to draw in his scent, his presence, his being. why did they have to love him? was it their fate? they didn't know, but they knew their heart was pained. "... i will venture to sunhaven. i know not how long my trip will be, sire." they responded after a while to consider their own response.

[div style="background-color: #292727; color: white; font-family: arial; font-size: 12px; letter-spacing: 1px; text-align: justify; overflow: auto; width: 500px; height: 340px; padding: 10px;"]Sunhaven.  He didn't know a lot about the group but there had been no aggressive movements from them so he supposed this was alright.  Sephiroth stayed in his current vulnerable position, wishing, pleading with himself to have the strength to do more.  Pull the serpent down for an embrace, speak of his own feelings, wished he could do something.  But he couldn't find the courage to move his limbs or to let words dislodge from his gullet.  Of all the strength he possessed, he couldn't find it in himself to be that emotionally vulnerable, to be honest with both himself and Bai.  He stayed there in silence, not making any motion to step away either.

The lion would exhale softly, his eyes lidded and weary if one looked close enough.  At the moment he was more then content to stay where he was, feel Bai Shi's warmth, subtly bask in their scent, generally enjoy the moment.  He would speak however, after a considering moment.  "...I understand."  Sephiroth murmured gently, trying to ignore the hurting feeling in his chest at the revelation that the Vizier would be gone for unpredictable amount of time.  That he would be alone.  That he wouldn't have the time to articulate his feelings and confess his own emotions.  "I wish you well, Bai Shi.  I shall be keeping you in my thoughts."

sometimes, they needed to take a step back and survey their own mental state, and this was one of those moments. how long did they even think this was going to last? did they think they ought to have had a chance? they were out of place here, not in the right set. but having him so close ... the object of their desires ... it felt too good to let go of this moment.

"Lynn." they murmured, their own head pressed into his shoulder and mane, floating on the clouds of his scent, the feeling of his fur against their scales a welcome sensation. had they ever known something to feel so right? if they had, it had to have been eons ago when their sire still lived with them and their other father.

"call me Lynn. Less formal, more familiar. After all, we are on that basis at least. I wont be leaving for a little longer, sephiroth, dont act so sad just yet." they knew him well enough to catch the taint on his scent. the one smell that they longed to drown their senses in, to know more than anything else.

drawing in a deep breath, they settled, clearly not wanting to let this contact end between them, not when the other hadn't pulled back yet, a cautious and rough throaty purr emerging from the mythical beast. enjoyment. this was the last of his comfort that they would receive for some time, and so they bathed in it, memorizing every second of this encounter between them.
