It seemed ever since the accident, that little ghost had been around every corner. He wasn’t always the sneakiest shadow, but not being able to smell him proved to be troublesome when it came to making sure he was alone. Ska’arq was getting close to completing his reaearch- or at least making a breakthrough. An odd restlessness had him always working with something. Connecting notes, making new notes, skimming through books, examining and comparing failed experiments... So close.
As usual, he was spending the day listening in on conversations that flitted throughout the town, paying close attention to the word choices and commonly used words and phrases when certain Tanglers spoke to each other. Various notes and seemingly random keywords were scribbled down onto the pages of his most recent notebook, drawing arrows and underlining words. When the duo finally caught on to the unwanted eavesdropper, he received an unsavory look before they got up and left. Clambering to his own feet, the little reptile headed back to his dwelling to review the contents of his notes.
There was a faint clatter and thud when he twisted the squeaky door handle. With a brief pause, he pushed his way inside, scanning the dim room. His papers had been mostly scattered, and several notebooks had their pages exposed to the ceiling. Ska’arq paused to smell the air. There was no scent, but a faint chill made his skin prickle. He was still here. ”Come out, Beck. I know you’re still here. Explain why you are disrupting the order of my possessions and reading them.” He had repeatedly informed the poltergeist that his research was of no concern to him. Why was he so insistent?
