    (retro to floods)

was it odd to be celebrating the foiling of a plot intended to brutally murder a king? was it insensitive to celebrate the death of the man who set out to undergo said plot? or was it just old and outdated? there were so many questions to the date and holidays celebrated by few, but treasured more so as a time of celebration and party. many people didn't even really care to think about the cultural implications of the holiday, just endlessly excited by the opportunity to drink and eat merrily. would the ones who attended this event feel the same? or would they ponder on the history of the night while their eyes fill with the wonders of fireworks and their bellies full of hearty food and warm drink.

sat by the unlit starts of a bonfire, venus awaited the arrival of others and the sun' setting to begin the festivities of the night, pleased at the sight of the group's namesake casting a orange glow. as the group bathed in the saturated palette of the giant gas ball, the silvery kitsune found it a fitting time to officially begin the night with a bang.

fixing the mask sat adorning the side of the vulpine's face so far, venus found the holes of which they needed to see out of and placed the item were it was designed to be. time to heat things up. "now that the sun has set on this historic date - welcome the typhoon, to sunhaven's grandiose bonfire night! enjoy yourselves, and watch your toes." with that loud announcement the solbinder pushed the crude effigy of a human from beside them, something made of rags and old vegetable sacks all filled to the brim with straw to serve as a dummy in the bonfire night's celebrations. into the fire he went - flames licking at his rough exterior and eating holes at the sides of his thin and flimsy "skin". as the fire dug deeper, they eventually reached the special surprise venus had hidden away inside of the dummy to ensure the event would begin with a quite literal bang.

a thunderous clap filled the stagnant night air, colours of yellow and blue dancing among the stars as the effigy suddenly spouted a wondrous firework from within his belly and exploded against the contrast of a pitch black night sky. the night had begin. it wasn't as if there wasn't much to do either, sunhaven were never the party-holders of such lowly events. merchants lines the busying streets, begging you to buy their sweets and drinks with temptations of the likes of bonfire toffee being some of the more popular choices of snack. their words whispered sweetly into any passerby's ears, haggling prices with other merchants. if it wasn't the food nor the drink then perhaps it were the people you might meet that could pique your interest - a chance for sunhaveners and typhooners alike to converse and connect to one another no longer as tense enemies, but as friends. later on in the night venus hoped that the group could participate in a game that would be a wonderful chance for the two groups to come and understand one another.

venus, themselves, nibbled idly on a piece of toffee with the mask now safely back on the side of their cranium so that they may be able to stuff their face once more with sucrose-infested food items. that fit the kitsune's definition of a good party. but honestly it was so weird to be celebrating the event of guy fawkes once more, in sunhaven, the kitsune wondered if anyone else would share the same experiences venus did with the event - some haveners did come from england. perhaps? but it would be truly hard to replicate the masses of children gleefully shouting for the burning effigy and blinding fireworks. venus would just try their best.

no matter how the partying members of sunhaven and the typhoon felt about the dubious holiday circumstances, they would all just have to remember remember the fifth of november.

It really amused Fin that people were considering celebrating a tratior, if the bastard could see what people did on his speical day, rather his death day but who really cares huh?  The vampire padded over with a slight smirk, this was hilarious to them but interesting all the same.  All the importances of the mask, of which fin themselves didn't take part of.  They found the mask a little bit odd and almost cultish in their opininon but their ears twitched at the loud clapping boom.

Besides it was a time to be merry and do things that didn't result in a nasty brawl.  That was what they were here for, and perhaps to dump some items on the unaware and really easy to haggle.

"The endless Void, The gazing abyss, The bottomless ocean of horror...It coiled itself around your tender heart"
Nice of them to be invited to this little event by their sun brothers - morbid as the holiday celebration might be in truth, hey, any excuse for a dazzling party right? - they'd had their own little private event for it themselves but this would be fairly neat to attend.

so of course the officer was there and seemingly the first of his group alongside two sunhaveners so far - he inclined his head to the leader of this little set up "The Typhoon thanks you for your invite and your efforts" he eyed the snacks set up appreciatively - and a minor thought that if his children followed him that hopefully they'd be on good behaviour at least for tonight.
