Well, this had been her weekly tasks and she had to go and find the gourds for this event. It had taken her a while actually, especially when they didn't have any growing near by. The greenhouse hadn't even equipped with something like this so traveling had been in order. With a wagon in tow the leader had set off on an amazing adventure to find everyone the biggest and best pumpkins that she could. As the sun began to set over the horizon the massive direwolf was making her way back home. Passing through the thick and tall palisades that lined the border a hum was in her throat as she easily slipped through the meadow and into the forest. These days she had been in high spirits despite the many things had been going on. Fall was slowly moving in and the forest was already starting to change colors to fit the cooling atmosphere. There were oranges and reds, yellows and some were brown falling down from the branches that they used to stay within them. A soft breath ghosted out of her slightly open jaws, a small smile tugging at pink colored lips as she entered the village.

Her wagon was loaded down with bright orange pumpkins, some that were yellow but still usable. Where she placed her station at was near the fountain and she had managed to wrangle up things to use on the pumpkins. Small carving knives, shape punchers, and even glitter and paint. After all she figured everyone would want to make their pumpkins look unique. Lining up markers and candles the woman would then turn her head to look upon her home before cheekily calling out. "Oi! Ya little ruffians want tae come on over and make some spooky pumpkins? We can decorate the village with 'em for the Halloween spirit. Maybe the ghosts will like em and not want tae harm us, ya?"

Honestly, Ymir had no idea what Halloween even was. When she was human, she was in a time long before such things came around, when civilization was just in it's early stages. Most holidays she had no knowledge of, and such activities as this that were associated with them were lost on her. But still, she was intrigued, and it was either this or sit around on her ass doing nothing. Of course she chose this instead.

The canine would approach with a somewhat puzzled look on her face. What were these pumpkins for? Her eyes drifting from the gourds towards the tools set out, she put the pieces together, as wrong as it was. So they were going to cook them or something? Her pride almost won her over, though the idea of having said pride crushed outweighed it.

She looks back to the larger animal, motioning towards the pumpkins. "The hell are we gonna do with these?" she asks, her gaze hard, like she was challenging someone to even think of making fun of her for her ignorance. Anyone who did would have their tail chewed off.

Oooh pumpkin carving, Blu gleefully sauntered over pretending not to hear Ymir's comment.  The canine was determined to on the she-wolf last nerves, he grinned happily.  This was going to be fun, but Blu had no artistic talent so his pumpkin was going to look horrible, he just hoped the ghost was not a harsh judge.

" You carve the pumpkins. Never heard of halloween?" the black and white canine asked the she-wolf in a normal tone, making sure there was a distance between her and himself, he didn't like the way her eyes were hard, as if she was planning to murder someone.

Jerseyboy had never personally taken part in the activity, though he knew what pumpkins were associated with: Halloween. Some strange holiday that the humans ( and apparently the ferals ) celebrated each year. "Shit. It's that time a' year already?" The New Jerseyan snorted.

He glanced to Ymir, a bit surprised at her ignorance. Was she really that clueless? If the ferals knew what this human holiday was then surely it must have been common knowledge. "And uh, yeah. What he said." Jersey gestured to whoever that guy was. Humans decorated these pumpkins and put candles in them in an attempt to make them look "scary". Nonetheless, he gave a shrug and said, "I'll pass. Pumpkin carving ain't my thing." Eating Halloween candy, though? That was his thing. He could do that all day. In fact, it was the only thing he was looking forward to ( that and the potential for Halloween parties ).

Theirs had not been a childhood touched with what it held now, rather it was in the days when it was more centred around witchcraft and pranks than the act of going about for candy, though that too had been their experience. As an adult they had seen the raise of the shift, watching it become something more light hearted, made for the children rather then cloaked in the dark. All too old they had barely entertained the idea of participating, allowing no children near their practice, and so the years had gone by, each never acknowledging it.

Things seemed different here, the oddities about this time drawing them in. “Seems rather pointless,” moving closer the fox made their opinion on the matter well known, uncaring for all of it within general. Never one for a sweet tooth they would pass on the candy as a whole, decorating and donning costumes something they viewed as redundant. Yet they lingered, eyeing the gourds and listening to the others as they spoke with Ymir, confused on all of this as though she took held no prior experience with Halloween as a whole.

Well, maybe "stepping up to the plate" was an understatement. She had delivered a whole damn essay on the history of the pumpkins.

Jerseyboy had tuned out after the first five seconds, maybe. He stared off blanky into the distance, even stretching a big yawn in the midst of it all. When this chick was finally done, though, he glanced over to her and snorted, "Well, this place has everything, don't it?" Of course, Jerseyboy didn't mean this in a harsh or even bullying manner. To him, it was simply just his way of speaking. He was used to growing up and saying anything he wanted to anybody. "We even gotta' walkin' encyclopedia."

With that, he got to his paws and started to pad off to do something else.

Now Blu was always interested many things, finding out lore about various things especially about Halloween, sure sign him up. He was more than interested, since he knew next to nothing about the simplest of things.

After listening to Andromeda basically give an entire lesson about how carving pumpkins came to be and the lore behind it.  The canine gave a sheepish grin. "Let's just hope no one got a few souls that does hate them for their crimes eh?"

♥♡ Halloween wasn't a holiday Mira enjoyed, for obvious reasons. The whole spooky aesthetic wasn't something she was fond of, first of all. The holiday also promoted overeating a bunch of sugary sweets; which she wasn't all that supportive of either. Yes, people could eat what they wanted, but that didn't stop it from being unhealthy. Although, the one thing that she loved about Halloween was the Jack o' lanterns. The carved pumpkins weren't exactly scary, and she found them enjoyable to make. She wasn't too uncomfortable using sharp tools either, despite her nature.

So, upon hearing that they could carve some pumpkins, she was already interested. Although, not everyone shared her sentiment. Who knew that pumpkin carving would be so problematic? Mira never understood why people showed up to something just to refuse to do it. It was about as pointless as they'd claim the activity to be. It seemed like Andromeda explained it to them, though, and actually provided some history on the subject.

"A-and even if we don't carve them to scare ghosts away, we can just do it for fun," she butted into the conversation. What was the harm in carving up some pumpkins for fun? As someone who spent as much time as she did occupy herself with work and other tasks, she enjoyed having some downtime. Although, even then, she probably tried a bit too hard on everything. "I-I'd love to carve one. M-maybe make a couple for the others that didn't want to make one, too," she added on. Maybe she was overdoing it a bit, but she knew that there were some spirits wandering around; she didn't really want anyone to get hurt just because they weren't interested in making a Jack o' lantern

Clear was it none had expected such an answer to arise, though more a story was it, spun expertly though lips drew away from the curve of teeth when she spoke a particular word – human-man-creature. Was such what all gathered about the assorted gourds thought their people, nothing but another oddity, a creature spoken within hushed tones. But then had their own tales, told when they had been tucked into the warmth of their bed, not been fantastical, containing animals so like the ones here who spoke within their own tongue. The flip upon such a tradition should not have been a shock, rather more an expected thing, merely another they waited to arise, but still was it.

“Thank you for the story, I am afraid I never heard that particular one,” angular head turned for but brief a moment, expression softening some until it seemed half a smile, before they reached for a gourd their own. Over the hard skin they ran their paws, claws unable to do anything to it, rind too thick for such blunt instruments to pierce, wondering for a brief moment on how to begin.
