After eight months, Buckingham finally left his second, more official "home". Bucky couldn't forget how he technically joined that violent, bloodlusting group. It was thanks to a mutated cheetah known as Ximen. Bucky lived in an enemy clan, and Ximen took the advantage of Bucky being out by himself. He was taken, tortured(leg loss, replaced with an advanced metal prosthetic), brainwashed and forgot everything he once had in his brain. Ximen reworked in, putting the puzzle pieces in very differently- taking that sweet, humble tom and turning him into a living weapon. He went from Buckingham Barnes to the Winter Soldier. For a few weeks, the Soldier had been a loyal pawn to the male, completing every mission with no hesitation. He tore his old home apart and didn't even bother to think what he was doing, until he had a falling out with his handler. Memories began to come back, leaving the male confused and unsure what to believe. And when he approached his handler about it- things did not turn out very well. The Soldier almost was killed by his handler, and had to defend himself from their sharp, large claws. It was then, when his handler attacked and tried to rewipe him, was when he was done being Ximen's asset. Not that long after he broke away from the male, the mutated cheetah disappeared, leaving the former asset alone by himself in the violent land. Being alone left the male with the opportunity to fully regain his memories, which was good for him.
No one else knew about Buckingham being a brainwashed soldier. They all assumed he was just a little strange member, and that they didn't have much to worry about on him. Thankfully when the truth came to light a few days after his former handler's disappearance, they accepted him. They didn't treat him like the prisoner he truly was- instead they viewed Bucky Barnes as much of a clanmate as the Soldier. Bucky decided to stay, deciding he couldn't return to his old home after the pain he caused them. It would have been wrong for him to go back.
If the rest of the clan accepted him as well as they did, it was probably strange that Bucky eventually left. During the months he lived there without Ximen, Bucky realized and almost accepted he couldn't erase the person he was reworked into. He still killed, attacked, and assassinated, but this time for himself. For a long time, he thought it wasn't worth trying to fight who he became, until the murders began to take a toll on him. Around eight months, Bucky was feeling tired. He was tired of families he tears apart, killing innocent people who did nothing to deserve such a fate. He decided then, he couldn't live there anymore, and he has to get himself out.
So, it's been around a month since he left without a notice. In this month, he's been traveling endlessly, unsure where he's going to end up and when. It's given him time to think of who he truly wants to be. He doesn't want to kill anymore, unless he has a reason to. He can do this, he can be the person he wants to be- this is his life after all!
Buckingham had been padding alongside an abandoned road in the middle of an open field when he came to a stop. A haunting, familiar scent began to invade his nostrils- eyes widening at the recognition. My nose must be playing tricks on me, he thought to himself as he inhaled the scent, that can't be Ximen, can it? Well, the scent wasn't going anywhere, and it almost made his paws shake at the realization that it's fresh. Bucky thought Ximen was dead- he hasn't came across this scent in months. The last time Bucky saw Ximen, it was back when he was his asset.
The smart thing he should have done was turn the other heal and run. But, the maine coon did the exact opposite. Instead he found himself following the scent, paws lighter than they've ever been his whole entire life. As badly as he wanted to get away from his former handler, he wanted to see for sure if it's him. He wants to know if that fucking bastard is still alive.
When the scent got stronger and stronger, the former assassin quickly crouched low to the ground. He began to stalk over as if Ximen was his prey- wanting to be as quiet and undetected as possible. When Bucky finally got sight of the cheetah, Buckingham was crouching between some tall grass. His light blue eyes dilated as quick flashbacks ran through his skull at the sight of the horned cheetah, ears pinning to his skull. He can vividly remember his screaming, the amount of iron that he smelled in the air and pain he went through when he lost his leg & got it cauterized after brainwashing. Those thoughts sparked a flame deep down in the male, unable to fight the asset side of him that screams vengeance! Vengeance!
His eyebrows arched and his nose scrunched up as his lip curled into a snarl. For so long, Bucky wanted to kill this bastard- feeling aggravated for months that he never got the chance. Now that I know he's alive, I can finish him off once and for all! He thought to himself as if he forgot the whole reason why he left their home in the first place. Without another thought, the maine coon sprang forward, attempting to land on Ximen's back with his claws outstretched.
