ROMULUS MALUS - KINGPIN - COTC
The day had finally come. The dawn of Romulus' confidence in tackling a task he had been avoiding for quite awhile: rebuilding the Hall of Kings. Suppressed memories and the inability to cope, especially with the revived mother and sister of his wandering around, had left him in shambles. Privately, he laid in silence. Contemplation. Contempt. Concern. He had been dreading what was to come, despite hyping up the event. Memories were to be dug up. Emotions, something he had tried to push away for long enough, were bound to come rushing. Romulus, needless to say, was distraught.
Within the shadows of his cavern, the leader laid with his head leaning against the wall. Locks of his monochrome mane were swept over chiseled features, hiding his dismay. A sigh left him. He leaned back and hair fell back into place, revealing his shattered appearance. Lips were loosely drooping into a lazy frown, eyes sunken in, and nose sniffing as he started to get ready for the day. The sullen kingpin pulled himself together quickly in front of the mirror, making sure his piercings were shiny and his fur laid neatly with a few licks. For a moment, he blankly stared at himself. Was he really ready for this? Finally? He was no longer sure. With a swallow, he shook his head and looked away. There were other things to worry about.
A leader has to stick to their promises and he was going to do that today. Exiting his home, he started out on his long trek to the western island. Time passed slowly. With every step, a new thought passed through his mind and another memory to accommodate it. His father urging him to believe in himself, his mother tenderly teaching him herbal medicine, his brothers egging him on, and his singular sister's subtle shows of her affection, though rare. They were all present. All too much. Despite the years and many gone, Romulus could not let them go.
Soon enough, he traversed through the Hall of King's walls and walked into the courtyard. Paws slowed as he surveyed the area. Ears pinned back as he walked, disappointed in the carnage left behind by one of his own. Debris, rocks, wood, and dug up land were all obstacles he had to move around. Careful and concise, he navigated to the front of the area with periwinkle eyes focused on one thing: the stairway.
The stairs before his gaze were cracked and uneven. What was once a welcoming sight had been destroyed and unable to be crossed by any normal animal. Instead, the elemental wielding kingpin raised a paw. Dark paw pads connected with the cold stone and lightly caressed the stair's edge. The earth began to shiver and shake, aligning back into it's previous spot within seconds. Back to normal. With each step, the lion moved forward and waved his paw again. A rumble, a magnificent spectacle, and then perfection.
Soon, the stairs returned to their old state. Romulus stood at the top, devoid of any expression. Known to no one but him, it was unclear whether or not he was satisfied on his work. Instead, he took this time to triumphantly let out a roar. "COALITIONERS, PLEASE GATHER FOR THE HALL OF KINGS RESTORATION," came his loud proclamation.
His echo eventually faded back into the silence he once stood in, waiting for others to accompany him. When they arrived, he would dish out tasks depending on their abilities.
