many people don't know it, but the moon is slowly inching away from us (this is actually true). people take the moon for granted and think that it'll always be there. though in reality, it won't be. century after century, the lovely moon gets further and further away. the days used to be 24 hours long but due to the distancing moon, they've grown longer.



fast forward to many centuries later and it's... gone. the moon is gone and it's important. without, the earth becomes unstable and things change in a devastating manner. that's how the ice age starts. the seasons change to the point that there are only two. winter and summer. extremely hot weather and deadly cold air.



for humans, they were able to adapt. the animals? not so much. many have gone extinct because they haven't had the chance to evolve. it was all too soon and all too quick. but those that did survive started to adopt to their environment and became highly aggressive and deadlier than before.



some years it's total darkness and others are filled with light. because of those years that left every being in the dark, the temperature of the atmosphere became extremely cold. it slowly began to freeze over the parts of the earth that weren't covered in snow. and when it snowed, it stayed.



this worried people and they knew what was happening. they tried everything to prepare for the day when the entire planet was covered in ice and snow. when the day arrived, they couldn't handle it. more than half of the human population died out. those that survived either formed groups or became loners.



now that you know all of that necessary stuff to understand how this happened, muse a and muse b come into play.



muse a grew up as a loner. they didn't have the luxury to have a group of people to look after them. they only had their mother, who fell ill when they were five. two months after she got sick, she died. they didn't have the necessary supplies to treat her, so they had to learn how to fend for themselves. it was tough. a little kid alone in the world with nobody to help them.



though this made them strong. they knew the landscapes like the back of their hand. intelligent, witty, and hardy yet suspicious, cynical, and apathetic as well. these traits right here have kept them alive to reach their mid twenties.



muse b is much luckier than muse a. they've grown up in a rather large group. never had to worry about being alone and always had someone to be with. life was good for them. they learned the necessities to survive if ever lost, alone, or taken. yes, taken. if people in the past thought the world was a cruel place, it got worse.



other groups would steal those that wander too far from their own group and take them hostage. it didn't matter what age. an elder person or a young child. they held them for ransom. usually for all of their supplies to expanding their territory. if they refused then everyone would die, no questions asked.



no matter what, everyone was taught the same thing at a young age.



never trust anyone.



muse a made that their motto and avoided human contact as much as possible.



so, one day muse b and their group go out hunting. they get ambushed and a bloody battle takes place. sustaining major but non life threatening injuries, muse b flees before they get killed. wandering along in an unfamiliar place, they stumble upon muse a's hiding place.



thinking that it was just another abandoned place, muse b hangs out and treats their wounds. coming back from a scouting trip, muse a finds the other in their home. muse b doesn't know that they're there and muse a sneaks up on them before questioning why they're here and how did they find this place.



muse b explains everything and muse a is suspicious. muse b begs them not to throw them out and muse a reluctantly agrees, but tells them that after their wounds have healed, they have to go. muse b hastily agrees and they stay with the other guy.



over time, muse a begins to enjoy muse b's company, but refuses to let the other know. muse b has taken a liking to the other and hides it as well. then they get drunk somehow, fall into bed with each other, and confess their feelings. though, when the night's over, they pretend as if nothing happen.



it gets to high tensions and they're forced to figure out their feelings for one another.

well, i was thinking like detective/spy x drug lord type of thing. each person has their soulmate picked out before their birth, so you can't really change anything. it's fate. it's been years, and both having no luck finding their soulmate. so one day the detective ( or spy; or a combination of both ) is sent out to find this big and mighty drug lord, whom is just messing everything up and causing a ruckus. now, muse a goes undercover to gather intel on muse b. some way or another, muse b figures this out, but says nothing and secretly plans to kill him. but, muse a gets hurt somehow, and muse b witnesses it and feels the pain. then they realize that they're each other's soulmates and are stuck with each other for the rest of their lives.
