Olalla's words swirled around his mind, a dizzying frenzy of information to swallow. This certainly was an important meeting with all that the canine was spewing. Yet something in particular made Blackjack's ears twitch.
Skald. Skald, the rank that Jormungand once held, now relinquishing it to scale the hierarchy to Marauder. Was it all that simple to do so? The jaguar expected something more...arduous, to say the least, yet he would be far from the first to complain about a promotion. He earned the Pitt's respect, evidently, enough to warrant a new title and new permissions for himself. Jackie could only describe the situation as bittersweet, for at this very moment he seemed to have sealed his presence in the Pitt. There was no backing out now, especially with the new duties awaiting him and the expectations they would have. Was it worth his freedom?
Why can I not enjoy both? The thought rang in his mind, soothing him in a way. Surely there was no reason for him to abandon his private endeavors and dedicate every moment of his living to this place. He led an ambitious existence, proud and disciplined in all that he did. He could live both lives if he so chose, he was sure of it. "Congratulations, everyone," Blackjack said, eyes falling upon those that found themselves promoted alongside him, his confidence restoring itself. There were many that rose the ranks today, and he felt it would be futile to send his regards to them individually.
Something else had caught the newly-pronounced Skald's attention and prompted him to act accordingly. "I can assist with the aviary as needed." It was a given that he would be assigned to the other renovation and construction projects that Olalla and Vale had in mind for the clan, and he would accept those tasks as well, but the aviary had seized his focus. It was no secret that he had a passion for winged wildlife, as seen in his companion Oscuro, and Blackjack felt that he could further his venture into ornithology with this new project if he so desired to pursue it. Did he have the time for it? Debatable. Did he think birds were sick? Absolutely.
