The three-eyed crow circled the komodo dragon and canine. After ve landed on a bleached bone, ve cawed and shifted vis wings. A crooked feather dislodged from a wing and lazily drifted down to the sands.
“Depends on your taste, stranger. We’re not known for candy or bread.” Vale’s head tilted to the right, and a baleful red eye watched the komodo dragon. “Of course, we don’t give charity.”
Given the stranger’s size (and the general omnivore diet of lizards), Vale leaned forward and half-anticipated needing to breathe fire. ‘Course it was more likely this was a joiner or a loner who’d turn tail and run at all the blood, but Vale wasn’t going to sleep on the possibility the hungry lizard would try to eat Bonnie.
