Death attracted predators, those that could taste it in the air as it hung and was carried great distances by a breeze. Anthemtalon had a knack for finding corpses, although he definitely preferred ones that had been forgotten and left to rot away in the far edges of the territory. Rancid food, things that nobody else would eat, bones; all were fair game for the komodo monitor. He ate and slept, that was all there was to the lizard's life and all there likely would ever be. Hopes for the lizard's growth as a person easily could be dashed when he time and time again brought rotten food to his peers as gifts.
Regardless, the smell of flesh in the air attracted the carnivorous lizard. Talons scrape as the long and heavy body is heaved along, carrying Anthemtalon in the direction of the smell. The snow could hide entrails from some, but not from the absolute scavenger that he was. Freshly turned snow was again churned, not a glance given towards the actual carcass within the pit. Instead, the lizard decided to try hauling away the previously buried cervine's internals, to a more sunny spot to snack on them.
