The grief that Byriath was going through was almost palatable and it made Aphra's heart ache for the guy. Even if they had their disagreements and arguments, she almost felt the Guru's grief in her soul. She would never understand the grief of losing a loved one, since all she ever really felt was lust as opposed to love, but what she did relate to was the hurt she felt when Roxanne choose Diya over her. Again, an emotion that had been powered by lust, so Aphra couldn't fully understand the hurt Byriath was going through.

Aphra... didn't really know how to make things better for the Guru. She didn't know how to make things better for anyone. The woman was hesitant in knocking on Byriath's door but eventually mustered up the courage to, knocking at his door as she gently called out, "Byriath? I... wish to give you something."
