[align=center][div style="font-family: georgia; font-size: 8pt; max-width: 65%; text-align: justify; line-height:120%"]Old the mechanism that deemed day must wane, illumination snuffed beneath the thin veil night cast about horizon. Not the method of telling, the manner in which passage is marked, hours created to ease the acceptance of passage. Lost it, unnecessary when time slowed, grew serpentine and cruel, dragged across threshold where dawn was not permitted. Here it seemed a reflection, a still surface that spun that old tale.

Restless movement, subdued those meagre flicks back and forth, a pendulum made dark depths. Never from horizon departing even as edge traced, breath held. Slow the break, and thus so too the relief painted heavily across exhale, darkness forced into retreat. The moon still hung in the cradle of dwindling stars, cold and uncaring, a multitude of eyes that peered back. Always their own averted before the last was gone, something whispering, a murmur bearing a volume almost lost it in the tanglement of thought, to do such invited hazard.

Downward drawn, studied paws. Not right, that which brain deemed as truth lacking, blunt tips dragging against cool soil. Nothing as it should have been, expected claustrophobic streets, and yet, as vision slowly rose, the scene waved away the idea. Open and wide, thick the cluster of tended blooms, growth allowed for love had been in the cultivation. Each bobbed in the shallow breeze, some brushing against, pollen left in wake.

Shuddering breath fled, seeking the outward stretch, fine stem caught. Momentary their ponderance over breaking it, rejected with ease. Too long had death followed doggedly at their heels, been brought about by their hands, hold loosening. Simple a beauty, to wither and decay soon enough, bringing that time forth a moment before it was meant incomprehensible, a weight with tangible pressure against their lungs. For a moment erratic the motion of released flower, followed as it bobbed and weaved, vision refusing to depart even as it settled once more.
