benjie and jojo had managed to evade the spotlight up until this point, for the most part at least. at the current moment the two could be found mingling around the medicine cat's den; more specifically, benjie could be found keeping watch while jojo attempted to steal poppy seeds. the problem was, jojo couldn't remember what it was called even though benjie would likely know what he was looking for as the designated Smart Twin, and he could barely remember what it looked or smelled like. at this point, jojo was relying on seeing it and just Knowing... as usual.
benjie sniffed, his ears twitching as he listened to what could only be described as jojo making a mess; winterhymns would not be happy if he ruined the den, and even less happy if he found out it was jojo and benjie that had done it, as much as benjie would have liked to pin all the blame on jojo because he hadn't actually taken part in trashing the place, obviously. the sound of footsteps all around had put him on edge, his long, fluffy tail winding and unwinding itself from around his hindlegs and stomach; he couldn't tell whether they were coming towards he and his twin or whether they were just walking past. nevertheless, the sound of a scuffle inside and a fidgeting benjie always screamed that jojo was getting himself into some kind of trouble, and would definitely attract some attention. "jojo, just come out. if we leave now nobody will know we were here and we won't get in trouble." he pleaded, turning towards the entrance of the den and flattening his ears against the crown of his head.
inside, jojo was trampling all over various patches of moss that were definitely somebody's bed, flattening the plant as he scoured for the little black seeds. he hissed as he heard benjie's pleading, turning around to throw his twin a mischievous gaze with a vaguely upsetting twinkle in his dark, hazel eyes. "go if you want to, benjie, but when i succeed i'll call you chicken." he shot back, turning to continue his search. as he turned, his wiry, twitching tail knocked over a- something, though he didn't care enough to check what it was. he stumbled back a moment as he shoved his face into a patch of cobwegs, whiskers twitching and nose wrinkling as his paw stepped into the vibrant, red berries he'd knocked over while attempting to get the cobwebs off his face.
oh, they were going to be in such trouble when winterhymns found out.
