The arrival of Seabound made the cries slowly taper off. The Spirit turned to gaze at them, slowly, thinking, searching. The colorful pelt, the scent of salt water on the air- the spirit knew them. Knew them in the sense they had once known them. Seabound was not someone she knew by memory, but by thought, by scent- connections, in past years. The spirit's eyes drifted over them, and for a brief moment, considered revealing themselves.
But others approached, and they shied away, stepping backwards and flattening their ears. The spirit's head turned, and slowly they started to back up, to walk away. Roxanne had come, but then came Keona. The only one they could truly communicate with, truly be seen by. The spirit knew this, at this point. Their head turned, and silent they fell again, before slowly trying to work their jaw, force any kind of sentence to form.
Months of screaming in the Abyss made them forget how to do just that.
What's wrong? The question itself made the spirit pause. Slowly, their vision meekly turned towards the pictured frame, the silver eyes searching it for a long moment, before she looked back towards Keona. "Past." What past? What was truly theirs, here, to remember? To think about. Their head turned again, staring at the picture frame. Their eyes turned, once again, towards the next two that approached. Another step backwards, as if it was curdling fear this time.
That golden tiger seemed to cause an adverse reaction. Their teeth grit, their fur standing on end. Suddenly, the black vision was visible, inky black and slightly see through. Their eyes widened, then narrowed. "Forgotten." Was the next word to be spat from their grit teeth, focused intently on Goldie. The spirit hadn't stepped forward, but certainly appearing alone would have been enough to set everyone in motion.
