ATBASH CIPHER
light the night up,
you're my dark star
you're my dark star
Now that Jacob mentioned it, it was starting to get a tad colder out here. Atbash dipped her head in thanks to the leader, and opened her mouth to speak. But just as she was about to, he went on to talk to Cry. Luckily, however, his attention was once again brought back to her. "I'd appreciate that a lot, thank you." She chirped.
A new face approached the group, and Atbash quickly looked over at him. He introduced himself as Pierce Parker, and Atbash gave a smile at him. "Nice to meet you, Pierce! My name's Atbash Cipher, but you can just call me Atbash." She winked, mostly to joke around with him, with how he said to just call him 'Pierce'. He seemed friendly enough; a bit nervous-ish, but nice!
Once again Cry got riled up, and Atbash's fur puffed up in defense. She tried to wrap herself closer to Harrison, and watched the raven carefully. Cry was obviously upset about something, but as for what? Atbash wasn't sure. Every time the raven stepped closer to Jacob, her gaze briefly flickered over to the leader, as if watching for his reaction. "This place... will never be my home." Atbash's heart skipped a beat upon hearing Cry finish her statement, suddenly feeling a connection with the poor bird. Just like Cry, Atbash wasn't surrounded by her siblings. Just like Cry, she was cast out of her home. Twice! They always say home was where the heart was, and her heart was with her two brothers, and yet they both refused to be together. Although Atbash couldn't blame Vigenere for not wanting to be around Caesar, she couldn't understand why Vigenere didn't want to be around her. Vigenere snapped at her whenever she tried to follow him, claiming he needed some space. That was the second time she had been cast away from her family. The first? When they got exiled, along with their parents. Being exiled was what started this whole shitshow, it started Caesar's feelings of resentment towards the King and his Court.
Snowbound would never be home to her, either. Snowbound couldn't ever be like the cold reaches of the Universe - which was probably why she choose the cold climate in the first place: to remind her of home. But Snowbound wasn't home. It would never be Dimension FiveX. The Dimension was gone in the first place, never to be returned to. Caesar ruined that. Caesar ruined everything. And yet, despite that, Atbash couldn't find herself to completely hate her brother. He was an awful, disgusting person, yes. He wasn't 'misguided' or 'misjudged' or 'misunderstood', he was a terrible person in general. But he was her brother. Her littermate. And Atbash could never find herself truly hating Caesar. Even if he wouldn't admit it, Atbash knew Vigenere felt the same way.
Jacob's words were a faint and distorted as Atbash thought about this, but she quickly brought herself back to reality. She shook her head, frowning at Cry. "Hey, Cry?" She called out, hoping that the raven wouldn't fly off. "Listen, I know we literally just met but, um... Do you think we could talk sometime?" She didn't want her story to get out in public. She didn't want to lure Caesar to her. She wanted to get away from the past as much as she could. And maybe, just maybe, telling it to somebody would help. And it seemed Cry was in the same boat as her. Or... at least similar to her own story.
