Maes wasn't afraid of Margaery, to be exact. After seeing her feasting on Suite, he was definitely a bit wary of her, but he didn't dislike her or anything. It was just that it was so new to him, seeing someone devouring blood like that. He wished he could have been as accepting as the others, since apparently that was a normal occurrence in this world. For now, though, he'd just put on a friendly smile as he looked up at the female. Maybe they could become friends, if he decided it was safe to trust others again.
"Oh, this?" he looks down at the mostly blank paper as she inquires. It wasn't much yet, with only one color on the sheet. But it'd be something soon, hopefully. "It's nothing right now. But, when I'm done, it'll hopefully look like a red bird," a bird was definitely an artistic thing to paint, right? Or maybe he just wanted something to remind him of home. Either way, he was painting and he was having the first good time in a while.
He looks over, grabbing another piece of paper and offering it to her. It would be nice if someone else decided to join him in his activities. "Would you like to paint, too?" he asks, giving her a hopeful smile. He needed some company, even though he definitely appreciated his friend's.
