★ WHEN MY HEART IS MADE FROM GOLD AND FORGIVENESS SEEMS TOO BOLD
Honestly, the last thing Hazel wanted to do was follow the sound of Suiteheart’s booming yell. Her mind said to stay, to let the adults handle it, that she would only get in the way and make it worse, but her heart yelled that she was a part of this clan now. If there was anything useful she had learned from her old home, it was that they were all held responsible, for everything that happened to each other.
Hazel made up her mind after her paws had already started moving, carrying her in the direction of the ruins. Suite wasn’t far outside camp already, so it didn’t take long. Hazel skidded to a halt, making sure to keep her distance from Suite’s path so she didn’t get underfoot. It was startling to see the polar bear’s brilliant white fur dark with crimson blood. Hazel’s heart stuttered in her chest at the sight of Luna lying limp atop the bear, knowing that she was gravely injured.
It was horrible, knowing that Luna needed a healer and Hazel had absolutely no knowledge of medicine. Actually, did...did anybody in The Ascendants have medical knowledge? It hadn’t occurred to her that aside from a stable structure and leader, a clan also needed a healer. Deus, Hazel hoped Luna survived. She liked Luna - enjoyed her company.
“Is there anything I can do to help?” Hazel asked, her voice tinged with concern.
