DIYA F.M.

Growing used to having a little one was slow coming but, Diya had enjoyed every moment of it. She had freed her girlfriend would reject her or the kitten that now shared their bed, but she had welcomed the small one with open arms. When Diya had originally stumbled against the bobtailed kitten, she hadn't intended on keeping them for her own, planning to pass it off to one of those recently to give birth, But, by the time the sun rose the next morning, Diya had already found herself fond of the small kitten, gently whispering a name above their head. "Suitekit."
Named after her own mother, the one who had always twinned with the vampire. There had been an ache in her chest upon knowing her mothers would never bear witness but, the joy she felt had drowned it out. She hadn't expected the kitten to latch onto her, to view her as any form of mother but, her heart had skipped a beat the first time that tiny voice squeaked out a "mama".
Diya had rose early before her lover and child, intent on making a good breakfast for them both. She milled about the kitchen, her voice filling it as she sang softly to herself. A thump brought her merriment to a pause, snowy ears pricking to the best of their scarred ability. "Roxanne?" she called out softly, wondering if that had been the officer climbing out of bed. As soft whines met the feline's ears, she dropped the cup she had been holding onto the counter. "Suitekit...?" she called out, heading quickly towards the sound.
Upon finding the kitten sprawled out on the floor, she clicked her tongue and lowered herself to the floor. "mon amour je suis ici," she would whisper in reassurance, pressing her nose against the kitten's back. Carefully wrapping a paw around the small kitten, she would aim to draw them close. She began to groom the top of the child's head, whispering soft reassurances of her presence.
