He felt so wholly engulfed by everything around him for all the wrong reasons. He was grateful for Paola's anchoring presence; he could focus on her instead of the ocean of grief that rose before him.
He could barely hear Helix's attempt to soothe Goldie, who appeared mostly unresponsive. He wasn't sure he wanted to hear it anyway, for as much as he loved snooping, those words felt too private for his ears. However, over the creature's spiel, Aphra's venomous words rang loud and clear. "Wow," Devland breathed, a look of complete and utter shock splattered against his dark features. Confusion gripped him for a moment, but as Roxanne moved to attack Aphra, he only offered an unsympathetic scowl.
"I don't think it's our fight," he softly explained to Paola after she jolted up. He took note of Paola's worry over the situation, but Devland thought Aphra deserved whatever hell Roxanne would give her. He mentally recorded everything Roxanne said, wanting to keep note of it for later dealings with Aphra. As the tigress tore into the white feline, he found himself unable to look away. The snapping of bones and tearing of flesh was gruesome, but he was not moved to halt the fighting.
When Paola inched closer to him, Devland spared her a glance. Knowing his words would fail him, he instead pressed lightly against her, hoping he could offer comfort. His attention returned to the one-sided battle as Georgia arrived. The sadness that enveloped the girl surprised him greatly, but the rage that followed suit did not. He was unable to stop himself from humming in thought as Georgia attempted to separate the pair.
Windswept, quite tired, and thoroughly confused by how everything was unfolding, he barely noticed Harlow's exit or the way Lawkit was completely overwhelmed. "Disgusting," he remarked, words clearly meant for Aphra.
