His mother's return from the Pitt had been both a boon and a curse for Roan, much as he wished it could only be the former. On one hand, having her returned in one, fixable piece meant that she was alive, and he wouldn't have to deal with the constant anxiety that had been plaguing him for days, driving him to constant overworking and panic. On the other hand, her return had meant yet another patient to treat, and even more days where he had to face the fact, up close, that he was forced to stick his paws in the blood of his family. It wasn't even the first time that he had treated her wounds, and he had some heavy doubts about it being the last. In fact, he had little idea of when the last time might be, and he was both excited by it, and petrified by it. On one hand, the last time he was forced to treat his mama's wounds could mean she just wasn't injured again, until she died naturally and peacefully. Or, it could mean that he had failed, and she died from said injuries. The thought of such a thing made his stomach churn and his chest tighten, and he had shaken his head wildly at the thought, turning and heading out of the temple. He very desperately needed some fresh air.
It wasn't long before Roan came across the officer, feeling slightly comforted by her presence around once again. Not only that, but she was also on top of Kal, the – mostly – gentle giant had been a friend of his ever since he was a kit, and an ever-present guardian when his mother had been busy. He could see that Roxie had something large and round hugged tightly against her chest, but he wasn't sure what exactly it was. As Kal moved along, the young sage was surprised to hear Roxanne's hoarse voice call out his name, her mission evidently having the end goal of searching for him. Biting the inside of his cheek briefly, Roan hesitated before making his way over to her and Kal. Standing in front of them, the siamese's gaze lingered on the egg, identifying it as an egg but not knowing where it had come from. Curiosity piqued, Roan questioned as his tail twitched from side to side behind him, "Mama? What is it? Are your wounds healing alright...?" A very large part of him wanted to ask about the egg, but he didn't want to be rude and just blurt out a question about what she was carrying.
