Caustic isn't stupid. He would never harm another here without reason. For his own persona and personal image, it was vital that Caustic keep his intimidating aura. He wants to be feared- he wants people to stay away from him, and his projects.

Letting people in was too risky- Tanglewood's population could not understand and it was not their business. This wasn't Alaric's business- either. Caustic elects for his normal method- truths between lies. "I'm going to eat it." The follow-up would about a when or why keep it alive then? So he answers, tipping his head, "Eventually...
