Just as Brandy had feared, people flocked to the information and the scent of his own injuries like a flame. His ears twitched, eyes softly shutting, lowering his head away. The bristles, the barely sprouted leaves, puffed up as if it could make it easier. But, to Ahab, to Roan, he relented. There was no point in fighting it now, the bitter guilt and anger in his stomach- anger at himself made him give up. Because, no way anyone looked at it, called it one way or another, Brandy was the one that started the fight. Accused him of being a traitor.
Brandy's fault.
He didn't respond to the two healers as they started their work on him. They were fairly minor wounds, the only concerning one was the burn on his right shoulder. He lifted his head weakly, showing it to Ahab, twitching and rotating his ears. But bitter words settled from his mouth towards Roan- not ones of anger or contempt for the.. technically uncle, but rather the raw truth. The one that Brandy had come to tell, anyways. "He ran away. He's gone." His eyes winced closed, then flinched down to the ground, as he caught the scent of the Captain.
His ears lowered, flat against his head as Goldie approached. D'ya want to tell me what happened, fómhar? His immediate thought, his gut instinct, caused him to open his mouth, then snapped it shut close, shaking his head. Whether or not he was about to say it, or give a loud complaint, that decision was drowned out as the next person approached, his gaze still shying away from his mother. But, alas, as Aphra spoke, his leaf mane spiked back up and his paws dug into the sand. They stunned him, out of thought, out of words for a few long minutes. The exchange between Goldie and Aphra barely caused his ears to twitch.
The guilt only grew as Ry's mother arrived, Ry's mother arrived and she was crying. It made Brandy want to cry again, but he had already shed his tears. He would have to live up to his mistake, his decision, to cause all of this. Right? Was it a mistake? Was it right? The fear and terror in Brandy was far more drowned out by confusion and typical greet.
The momentary bliss Seakit gave him made the world feel still for a long moment, his head coming from no where and pressing against him. His head picked up, turning towards him, watery strange eyes looking over him. What appeared on Seakit from his body, wasn't super visible, but the pain from the frostbite of using his paws as basically a battering maul, crept over Seakit. ".. He won't, though." Were the only words he managed in return to his sibling, looking back away again.
He didn't recognize much of the other people that showed up, Eulia, Octane. Instead, Brandy turned towards Aphra, slowly pushing to his paws. The cub wasn't small- well, compared to the adults, especially Ahab, maybe- but he was certainly threatening. But the anger needed to go somewhere, rising in his chest, bubbling with an anxiety that needed to flow free. "You want to hurt me?" He said, his lips slowly pulling back, the sharp teeth evident that they could do damage, even with his smaller jaw.
"Because, on some whim, you think I killed my fucking brother?" That probably didn't help Octane's confusion much. Brandy and Ry weren't brothers, but.. they also were. Even if Brandy had said they weren't. He stepped past his mother now, ice crystals sparking at his pawpads, slowly creeping at his arms. "Go ahead. Hurt me. I want to see what happens, since all you're good for is claiming the victim." Brandy spat on the ground, no, not the ground. The spit was aimed at Aphra's paws. He then straightened himself up, moving towards Roxie, plopping himself between her and Aphra, his fur on end in anger.
But, slowly, the sniffles of the mother brought his anger down, his head drooping a bit as he stood and turned to face her, looking up at her. In the eye. Brandykit Roux was no fool. Well, yeah, he was a fool. He was a kid with a misunderstanding of the world. But what he did know.. "Ry.. isn't dead. He's.. I hurt him. A lot. But he's not dead." He said, pathetically, his tail slowly lowering down. "He ran because.. he thought he didn't.. belong here." Brandykit sat now, facing Roxie, his head lowered down and tears biting at his red eyes again.
