Powers were something that Alaric still had a hard time adjusting to. Shapeshifting, manipulation of the elements, even telepathy—just how was it that almost everyone seemed to be able to do something otherworldly? It didn't exactly blow his mind, per se, but it was still a little weird to him regardless.
Alaric himself was powerless. He possessed no supernatural abilities to speak of, except, perhaps, for his uncanny ability to not give two shits about most anything. He could not make himself fly with wings. He could not make himself shift into a body that was not his own. He could not communicate directly to someone else's mind without even moving his lips. Did he care all that much? Not really, honestly, and he was pretty content with not having any.
If anything, powers only served to confuse the tabby. Such was the case when he saw a winged lion glide by overhead. Alaric was very sure that he had never once seen a winged lion in Tanglewood. Ever. But now that he had seen one, he wanted to know just who it was, and in order to accomplish that means he would, on foot, follow the lion's flight patterns until the bigger feline landed on the ground.
It was only when he overheard Caustic and Feza talking to the lion that he realized that the feline was, in fact, Aurum. He could not say that he was shocked, as shapeshifting was one of the more common powers among those he had met, but he was pleasantly surprised that the body belonged to someone such as Tanglewood's own proxy.
Approaching slowly, the tabby would say, "Someone seems happy today," he would jest, although his monotone speech patterns did not suggest a joke of any sort.
