[font=trebuchet ms]A day had passed since Tena's return, and no further incidents had occurred.

Rin sat on the dock with her second attempt at a cup of tea, the sun setting over the water ahead of her. Occasional sips left a bitter taste on her tongue, but it wasn't outright unpleasant. For a second attempt, it was alright. She would probably finish the cup this time, rather than leaving it to reach room temperature and eventually throwing it out like she had the first time.

Somehow, by this point, she hadn't grown to associate tea with any form of tragedy. She would be grateful for that much.

Talons clacked down on the wood beside her- the impact too light to be caused by Nemhain. Turning her head, Rin stared down at the sudden visitor: a crow. Furrowing her brows, she felt her muscles tense. It would be foolish for one of the gods to attack her here, but it wasn't impossible.

The crow glanced at her cup of tea, then back at her, and squawked in an inquisitive manner.

The tension melted out of Rin's limbs. The crow was non-sentient. Feeling the edges of her mouth twitch, she shook her head. "You wouldn't like it," she said, before turning back to the cup of tea and taking another sip. Though it was still warm, she could tell it was cooling down- she ought to finish it quickly. Next to her, she heard the flapping of wings, quieting down as the crow flew away.

Shortly afterwards, she heard the planks shift again. Looking down at the crow, she blinked- the crow held a quarter in its mouth, and looked at her expectantly, as if offering an exchange. With a sigh, she set down the cup of tea in front of the crow. The crow set down the quarter in front of her, then leaned down and drank from the cup. Curiously, it didn't seem repulsed by the taste, drinking steadily.

Sweeping the quarter closer to her with one paw, she gazed out at the sunset, her strange, temporary companion drinking tea beside her.

/tl;dr: a crow pays Rin twenty-five American cents for her tea, and now the two are sitting on the dock watching the sunset
