Perhaps, if he were a different person, a more ignorant one who didn't accept the basic evidence in front of them, he would assume magic, much like the rest of the paranormal, was something fake. Assuming that such things were unrelated phenomena, or just exaggerated superstitions, or even just straight up false - that sort of thing. He was not that person, though, and he had seen firsthand the exact sort of things that such a person would handwave as absurd.
So when the call for a magic trick was sounded, he was immediately and irrevocably intrigued - and the one thing core to Abathur's personage was that his curiosity could only be sated by knowledge, for which he would hunt until it was found or he was dead. Morbid, but such was the way of the wayward scientist, even though recently, he had begun to lose that way. Lose that feeling of purpose. Purposeless though he was, he was still a man with a very simple want, and so he approached the 'stage,' somewhat listlessly, quietly aware that not many others had. He didn't know the person presenting, and he didn't know if it would be as entertaining sans sight, but still - he had nothing better to do with his time than be curious about something.
