Vathmos found herself hungry all the time. Sure, there was always food in the messhall, and that's normally where she would get her first bites in the morning, but it wasn't enough. With two lions and whatever Red was here, she wondered if they would have to start rationing food differently. There was no way they could have enough food for everyone, right? The territory was pretty big, but could there be enough deer and other prey for them? She wondered if they would have to start eating the alligators. That was too much trouble though. Would they have to start competing with the alligators?
Vathmos couldn't stand going hungry. She hated being hungry. She slept off most of the day, more nocturnal then her clanmates, and didn't wake up until it was near dusk. She groaned lightly, rolling over and taking in the scent of her the pelt her head rested on- a raccoon. It was fresher than the others, and Vathmos had licked it clean of blood yesterday. She wondered if she should let it dry out but.... eh. That was too much work. She stood, stretching out and a coo exiting her throat. She padded to her bone pile, sniffing it and rummaging through it with her nose, trying to find any pieces she had missed. Not even a speck.
Her stomach growled, and Vathmos grabbed the rope on her door handle, flipping it open and leaving her home. She grabbed a quick bite from the mess hall- a few mice to give her energy, swallowing them whole. She left the mess hall and the camp altogether just as quickly. It took her at least a good half hour to track down something. A raccoon- it was preoccupied eating something. Vathmos was quiet as she stepped towards it. This was an unfamiliar hunting strategy to her- slinking and pouncing. Her prey was probably faster than her, so she couldn't let it get away. In the tribe, they would find something big and overpower it with numbers and by waiting it out. She could do that with a deer, for sure, but this raccoon? Not so easy.
She stepped on a stick. The raccoon straightened up, and fled. Vathmos gave chase, running after the creature and nearly smacking into a tree as it ran up, narrowly avoiding her jaws. The raccoon watched her from a few branches above. Vathmos swore she could hear it laughing between chirps. She tried jumping up the trunk. She got a headstart and tried to run up the trunk. She snarled at the raccoon, as it chirped down at her.
"I'lili kitlili yaowpu."
