idyllfields
stars did fall
idyllfields was not one to often come by the oceans shore, not even during low tide. the call of the waves was more of a warning shot. the gulls were messengers to keep them away and the stronger the scent of the sea hit their nose, the further they stayed away.
something today had felt different. a bad storm had raged on across the seas. the seas had swelled for miles upon miles and something had told the sage to investigate despite their fears. the tide had come low enough for them to semi-comfortably navigate through the seaweed-ridden sands. the crushed shells pricked their paw pads but something had caught their interest. a small lump over the sand, idyll was unsure what it exactly was but it was crying, and that was the first indication that something was very, very wrong.
as the coyote came closer to the otter realization kicked in. this was a baby laying here in the sand. they looked around but there was absolutely no sign of a mother or family around.
"hello...? are you okay?" they murmured, beginning to assess for any external injuries. "i'm a healer. i can take care of you." they continued quietly, nudging the otter gently. "does anything hurt, my dear? can you speak?" they made sure to speak slowly while brushing the sand off her body.
