[font=trebuchet ms]The life of a lonesome wanderer was one Rin had had far too much experience with.
Several times now, she had lost a home, a family of whoever had been naive enough to take her in. If she was lucky, blindly stumbling around would eventually lead her to shelter. If she wasn't, she had to cling to the pieces of an intangible idea just to keep going. She had once been told that she could probably survive in the center of a nuclear war; she now knew that was essentially true. If only it were true about someone else, too, someone in whose companionship she might find solace.
It wouldn't be, though. Elysium was kind enough to provide herbs, but she was under no pretense that she was one of them. The mere act of her being there was enough to curse them- the recent death of one of their members was proof enough- but having declined to take the oath had staved off the misfortune for a while, at least. Unlike all the other times she'd lost a friend, too, at least this time they could investigate and possibly ensure justice without fearing total destruction by the killer and their allies. Nonetheless, this was not her home.
Maybe that was why she hadn't seen these strangers before. They were clearly not hostile, and she could tell from their morphing scents that they had been here for a few days- probably joiners- but she did not recognize them. One of them had made a wry comment about the relative quiet of the area, a comment that she felt she could answer, though.
"It's usually pretty quiet around here," Rin said, approaching them with a brief glance at each of their frames. "I don't think we've met, though. I'm Warringkingdoms Kepler-Langley, but just call me Rin." If they would be sharing the territory, she ought to remember them. A lack of familiarity with the land's occupants would make it harder to find a potential traitor, something she had just observed with Tanglewood.

/not to worry, it'll get super angsty after they introduce themselves
