[font=trebuchet ms]When Lilja answered that she wouldn't know until they'd bloomed, Straw lightly smacked the side of her mask with one paw- a healthier way, Quince had told her, of face-pawing at one's own stupidity. "Of course," she muttered, shaking her head. "Makes sense." Unless Lilja was a professional geneticist, and Straw suspected no one here was, there would be no way of knowing for sure what color the carnations would be.
Then she asked if Straw was allergic, and offered to uproot the currently-growing seedlings... that was just excessive, and definitely not worth doing for someone like Straw. Shaking her head more vigorously this time, Straw said quickly, "Don't. It's- it's no big deal." Glancing at the seedlings, she thought for a moment, then nodded. "Just... just lilies and chrysanthemums for me. If it's no trouble."
She shouldn't have brought it up. She could deal with a couple yellow carnations, it wasn't like she could- or should- hide from nature. Hopefully Lilja wouldn't take any of this personally; it really wasn't that big a deal. It was really nice that she was even bothering to do this in the first place.
