One paw in front of the other.  The world changed, one paw in front of the other.  Forests of trees.  Fields of grass or flowers or even snow.  Mountains.  Great bodies of water or small, trickling streams.  Bright, carolina blue hues danced.  Those eyes wanted it all, to see, to know, all of it.

Hard to say how long the petite angel walked.  Memories of the journey's start faded, hazy from the spell of time.  She came from somewhere far away.  She came from somewhere with trees so tall it seemed they were nothing short of determined to touch the stars themselves.  Then she wondered why she'd gone away, and frowned, feelings of uncertainty and longing for old friends hurting her heart.

The past was past, and time failed to move backwards.  She had to move forward, but she wouldn't forget that she'd been happy... She'd been very happy then, surrounded by a community.  She wouldn't forget, not entirely, but her paws kept moving, one over the other.

The pastel torbie knew eventually, somehow, she'd stop.  Find a place.  Temporary or permanent, but then everything seemed temporary in the long-run of things.  Time touched everything, one way or the other, subtle or drastic.

In the distance, a speck of movement.  Multiple travelers.  Penelope blinked, then turned her walk into a trot, then to a dash.  Loneliness crept on the mind.  Slowly sometimes, or sudden as a flash of lightning.  She missed having someone to talk to.  "HEY!"

In the end, some things did remain timeless.  The volume of the young angel's voice, perhaps, was one of them.  When she caught up to the moving creatures, she grinned.  The happy, crooked grin of a child, speaking to all and any who'd listen.  "Hey! Where're you goin'? Can I come?"

"I'm Penelope."
