stars did fall
completing a majority of their hut, idyll felt they could afford a day to themselves. they had left their quaint little hut tidied and dusted before venturing out into the jungle. it had been a while since going on a walk alone. the day was still young, the sun just barely at its highest point. the coyote was upbeat and excited to go out and have some alone time. their paws skipped and hopped over twisted and tangled roots of towering trees. they followed the path they knew to one of the lovely trails that the jungle had hidden away. it was the only direction idyll knew by muscle-memory, but nonetheless a destination worth visiting. perhaps at another time they could ask for a guide to any other whereabouts or hangouts in the jungle.
deep into the rainforest, activity began to become abundant. macaw's flew overhead to their nests with their mates. their eyes narrowed, making out a clutch of eggs in one of the nests above them. they hurried away from the couple before their eyes were pecked out, continuing down the hidden path. they began to slow at the familiar signs left for crewmates before. some claw marks on trunks. tufts of hair left between bushes and low hanging branches. eventually idyll reached the official beaten path. tall grasses rose above their shoulders and palms curved down low enough for idyll to collect a coconut from, dodging a bitter coconut crab's swiping claws and continuing down the path. they stopped for a moment to try and get the coconut to crack open, repeatedly pushing force down from their front paws, but to no avail.
"oh dear..." they grumbled, ears pinned in frustration. "a simple attempt for something natural and healthy, and mother nature laughs in my face." idyll adds with a huff, sitting down and kicking it off into the tall grasses in distaste.
