she was big. Very big. But her words were kind and soft as she looked and she was the only person she had seen in ages. The little puppies tail wagged despite her pain. For the first time in a while she stopped walking for a reason other than to sleep.
"Uh yes, I'm very very thirsty."
Eyes were wide and full of trust. The idea of someone with malicious and evil intent was beyond her. Sometimes people weren't in a nice mood. That was all.
As the figure edged closer her tail stopped to wag, she sure was big. The striped tigress with her exotic pelt. Nothing like the lions and leopards and meerkats and all the other animals. And certainly nothing like mama. But where was she?
"Oh..", her ears pinned back, she really was tired but she couldn't wait, "well.. Not really." She was young and lying was not in her and so it was really unconvincing. But it was a white lie.
"I have to find my mama, me and my siblings went looking for her. But we- I lost them too. I don't know where they went either."
Her stomach no longer grumbled, instead there was a hollow yet heavy pain in it. Constant and dull. Every once in a while it would jab deep and sharp. A wave of that pain started in a small concentrated area and quickly filled her tummy. She winced and her ears pinned back.
Looking up once more she sat down and huffed, "But I've been looking for a long time now. First I ran. Then I couldn't do that anymore no matter how hard I tried. Then I walked and walked and walked. But I have to keep looking. They'll miss me. They do miss me. And I miss them."
Determination was in her every word and while her body said different her spirit was strong as ever. She wasn't asking for help either. Simply telling her mission and speaking in that overbearing and too much information way that children often have.
