[font=trebuchet ms]If only life were that simple for either of them.
Maybe Straw was lucky. Aside from the swearing-in bit at meeting a few days ago, she hadn't been asked to do anything in public, and most of the populace had left her alone. It wasn't that she disliked them- she wouldn't have stayed if she disliked them- but she knew her limits, and getting swept up in the riot of a social life was beyond those limits right now. She was helping them by finding food and plants, they were helping her by giving her food and shelter, and that was all that was needed.
At least, that was up until she noticed someone waiting at the border, someone who didn't smell like the rest of the Elysites but didn't smell like a rogue, either. They'd said something about other groups, hadn't they? If this was an enemy invasion, it was a pretty poor excuse for one. If it was anything else, someone probably needed to take care of it- and upon looking around, she noted with furrowed brows that no one else was around.
With a small sigh, she adjusted her mask and walked over to the visitor. Internally, she thought through what to say- she wasn't sure who this was or what they wanted, so she needed a general statement to apply to this situation. "What do you need?" she said finally, tilting her head downward slightly. Yeah, that would work, she thought.
