Their beloved island destroyed, or nearly destroyed, by the volcano's eruption. While a majority of the others had fled to their sailboats and taken to the sea, the angel was not so keen on being on the water. Boats swayed to and fro, far too much for his weak stomach to endure. He had watched from the beach as they boarded and pushed off the shore, taken out to the broader ocean by heavy tide. Several offered him a space on their boats, but he refused, and instead turned his head from the water and fled the oozing lava on foot.

Junji was unsure of what had become of Paradise Island. He'd taken what possessions he had from Goldenluxury's hut and scrambled away as fast as he could, and though his heart ached to return and see if his dear friends Goldie and Luca survived, he was not yet ready to venture from this new home. A cozy little cabin nestled at the banks of a frozen lake, decorated with thick blankets and a mountain of pillows the angel had somehow managed to drag from the island all the way to this little nook in a mountain range. He spent most of his starting days there huddled beneath the fabric, holding close to him a fat plushie of a strange yellow mouse. Pikachu, Goldie said, was his name. According to the captain, she had given it to him once before, in the life he lived before this one.

It was still hard for him to believe he had had a different life before this one. It was hard to believe he lived before being created by Raphael, even harder to believe that Luca had been his lover, and they had children. It was a lot for the young angel to take in. He didn't know if he would ever really believe any of it, but still, they were all interesting thoughts. To think he had a life that was free of his father, full of the warmth of true love and the sweetness of home. Junji hoped he would taste that sweetness again. Perhaps this snowy group would provide him that.

For the first time in several days, Jun slowly pushed open the door of his cabin and stepped out onto the porch. Soft teal eyes drifted around the area as if searching for a threat; upon confirming it was safe, the boy gingerly set his paws in the snow. He breathed out slow and trod down to the lake, settling himself at the edge. Downy white wings curled around his small form to keep warm in the bitter cold. Junji lowered his head and touched his nose to the surface of the lake, and with only a tremble to his breath, a plume of icy air heaved from his lungs and danced over the top of the frozen water. He smiled at the pattern now gracing the ice and set his chin on his paws, once more looking about the area.
